Chapter 218 Sea of Lights

"It's actually related to that person. Although it's a bit troublesome, I'm determined to have her body!"
In a vast sea of red spider lilies, a red twin flower flashed with a red light, and then an old woman with withered skin appeared out of thin air.
Her eyes darted around, and the next second, countless shrill screams rang out from the surface of the River of Oblivion. The black soul transformed into black smoke and surged into the Ghost Granny's body. In no time, her withered skin turned as white as jade, and her ink-black hair cascaded down to her waist.
She bent down, her slender fingers gently touching the white spider lily. A glint of malice flashed in her eyes. "Sister, you wait. I'll bring her here soon..."
A gentle breeze blew by, and the white petals fluttered in the wind, touching her fingertips as if in response.
Seeing this, she smiled strangely, and the next second she raised her hand, tearing through space and heading towards the city of Zhongdu.
The bright red spider lilies that were just in full bloom suddenly withered, and a chill suddenly gathered in the air.
...
Within the space, strands of golden light drifted out from the only leaf on the Enlightenment Tree and entered Lu Fuyue's heart. Beneath her, red lotuses suddenly bloomed, and clusters of golden-red flames enveloped her body.
A profound and mysterious Daoist intent emerged between her brows, but just as she was about to grasp that fleeting intent, footsteps suddenly came from outside the courtyard.
Lu Fuyue immediately stopped cultivating, then suddenly opened her eyes and appeared in the room in a flash.
And that wisp of profound meaning vanished without a trace.
A knock sounded, and a tall, imposing figure was reflected on the carved gate, while the branches of trees in the courtyard swayed gently in the wind.
"It is I, the King."
Upon hearing this, Lu Fuyue lowered her eyes, stepped forward, and pushed open the door.
Jiang Xun strode into the room and slammed the door shut behind him, instantly making the surrounding air feel thin.
Lu Fuyue's expression changed slightly, and her body tensed instantly. "Your Majesty, what does this mean?"
The door was tightly shut, and the room was dimly lit, with only a few faint rays of light coming through the window.
Jiang Xun stared at her with deep, dark eyes, then walked step by step toward Lu Fuyue and asked stubbornly, "You can make a deal with Siyou, so why don't you come to me? Am I really that unworthy of your trust?"
"What Siyou promised you, I can give you too, even more than she gave you, but why do you never try to find me?"
What is a mere nine levels of hell if she just opens her mouth?
But she never trusted him; in fact, she was wary of him and even wanted to risk her life to enter the deepest hell.
Lu Fuyue's expression faltered slightly as she immediately sensed Jiang Xun's unease. After a moment's thought, she subtly took a few steps back. "What does Your Majesty mean by that?"
Did he discover something...?
Jiang Xun gave a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth. After a long while, he suddenly laughed, but stopped walking without a trace of amusement in his eyes. "Don't worry, I won't force you."
"I have come here today only to make a deal with you."
"Whether you like it or not, I will respect your choice in this deal."
Lu Fuyue paused, looked up at him, and after a moment of silence, she finally spoke: "What kind of deal?"
Jiang Xun remained silent, his gaze still fixed on her with a deep intensity. Unbeknownst to him, his hands, hidden behind his back, were clenched so tightly that his palms were now a bloody mess. Yet, he seemed oblivious to everything, simply staring at Lu Fuyue.
"You know, there was a moment when I wanted to keep you by my side forever."
"Even if you cultivate the path of ruthlessness..."
Upon hearing this, Lu Fuyue's expression changed drastically. The next second, a cluster of phoenix red lotus divine fire appeared out of thin air in her hand hidden in her sleeve.
However, Jiang Xun immediately noticed her movement, his gaze shifted downwards to the direction of her sleeve, paused, and a hint of self-mockery flashed in his eyes.
Suddenly, his eyes darkened, and he quickly pulled the person firmly into his arms. Black mist emanated from his body, and the golden-red divine fire that Lu Fuyue had hidden in his sleeve dissipated.
The woman's faint fragrance lingered around his nose, and seemed to seep into his heart, making him feel a ticklish sensation.
Lu Fuyue struggled but couldn't break free; she was held tightly by a pair of large hands. Finally, she took a deep breath and said coldly, "Jiang Xun, what do you want to do?"
This man truly lives up to his title of Ghost King; his temperament is so unpredictable!
Jiang Xun chuckled softly, tightening his arms around the person in his arms and burying his head in her neck. "I'm not doing anything, I just want to take you somewhere to see."
The moment the words were spoken, the scene changed instantly.
When Lu Fuyue opened her eyes again, she saw fireflies filling the sky and an endless sea of lights all around her. A gentle breeze blew, and the vast expanse of colorful lights moved with the wind, creating a scene like a fairyland.
The normally dark underworld was now unusually bright, like a pool of stagnant water where lively fish had sprung up.
Lu Fuyue watched this scene, pursed her lips slightly, and then looked up at the man beside her in confusion.
Jiang Xun stood beside her, and noticing her gaze, he turned his head to look at her. He slowly asked, "Is it pretty?"
Lu Fuyue paused slightly, then looked up again at the sky full of fireflies and nodded.
Jiang Xun smiled, squatted down, picked up a large red lantern from beside him, and handed it to Lu Fuyue.
Lu Fuyue hesitated for a moment, but finally reached out and took the lantern.
Jiang Xun watched as the bright red palace lantern emitted a faint red light in Lu Fuyue's hand. He smiled faintly, then casually picked up another red lantern from the ground.
The paper on the lantern depicts mandarin ducks playing in the water, and in a corner there are a few lines of barely perceptible characters: "Holding hands, we grow old together."
The two walked side by side, carrying the same red lantern, amidst a sky full of fireflies and a sea of colorful lights.
"Since I came here, the sky of the underworld has been so gloomy and dark, until I accidentally obtained an opportunity to leave the underworld and discovered that the sky outside is bright."
"Look, isn't the underworld more beautiful than the sky outside now..."
Jiang Xun was not the leader of the Five Ghost Kings from the beginning. Before he became a Ghost King, he was just a mortal soul who had just died a violent death.
Before that, he was no different from ordinary mortals. If one had to say what was different, it would probably be that he had no parents since childhood, was born in war, and died in war.
Having had enough of being an ordinary mortal with nothing, he chose to cultivate the path of the ghost after his death, thus avoiding reincarnation.
