"No need!" Fang Meng shook her head decisively. "I called Grandpa yesterday, and he's going back to his hometown in the countryside with Grandma this morning to pay respects to our ancestors. There's only Fang Guoqiang's family there. Going to see them on New Year's Eve? That would be giving them too much credit."

Like Grandpa Zhu, Grandpa Fang came from a rural background. However, Grandpa Zhu's hometown was in Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China, far from Beijing, making it inconvenient to go back. Grandpa Fang's hometown, on the other hand, was a small mountain village in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, not far from Beijing. They could drive there in the morning and arrive in the evening. So every year during the Spring Festival, the elderly couple would go back whenever they had time.

However, ever since their eldest son, Fang Guoqiang, was tricked into marrying a troublemaker, the old couple never let them go back with them. Even their twins, a boy and a girl, never went to the Fang family's ancestral home, clearly telling everyone: the Fang family ancestors do not recognize the children born to that troublemaker.

Even Fang Guoqiang, who lived in the same compound as his parents, was never allowed to bring his wife and their two children back home by his parents. Fang Guoqiang always went home to see his parents by himself.

This clearly shows how much the old couple disapproved of their son's later wife and their children, the brother and sister.

"Hey, you two are going to the Fang family's house?"

Zhu Guogang was so preoccupied with regretting that he wouldn't have a chance to see those two ferocious beasts during the New Year holidays that he didn't hear what his younger sister and Fang Meng were saying. He only vaguely heard "Fang family" and suddenly remembered what he had heard from his childhood friend in the compound a few days ago.

“I heard from my childhood friend that the other day, Fang Li, the youngest son of the Fang family, ran out of money and didn’t dare to ask his father for more, so he went to ask Grandma Fang for money. Grandma Fang ignored him completely. That scoundrel took advantage of the old man’s absence and, in a fit of anger, shoved Grandma Fang. The old lady hurt her back and had to stay in the hospital for three days before she came back.”

"What did you say!"

Fang Meng and Bai Nuo stood up simultaneously, their faces instantly filled with icy murderous intent. They exchanged a glance, simultaneously put down what they were holding, and turned to walk out the door.

Zhu Guo was stunned by the two men's posture and stood there. He quickly put down his things and was about to follow them out when he saw the two men return with murderous intent.

"Hey, you two..."

Before they could finish speaking, the two walked straight to two small cubicles in the backyard, which were used to store miscellaneous items.

A minute later, Bai Nuo and Fang Meng walked out of the door. Their military uniforms were gone, replaced by dark sportswear. Bai Nuo also carried a somewhat worn riding whip.

Zhu Guo stared in disbelief at the two people who had disappeared again at the courtyard gate. He gasped and quickly ran after them.

He had heard before that Fang's second son often took Bai's little girl to Fang Guosheng's place to cause trouble. But when they were little, they could be said to be children having conflicts. Now they've all grown up!

Please, please don't let anyone die!

Zhu Guo had no doubt that his younger sister and future brother-in-law were there to kill someone. The two of them exuded a murderous aura, so who would dare to doubt them?

Fang Meng and Bai Nuo didn't care about any of that.

Since Fang Guoqiang remarried, although the Fang brothers have lived in the Zhou and Bai families for many years, Grandpa and Grandma Fang would visit them whenever they had time. They would always send any good things to their two grandsons first, and they treated Bai Nuo and Bai Yukai no differently than their own grandsons.

The elderly couple genuinely loved Fang Meng and Fang Zhou. Otherwise, why would they refuse to let their son bring the family of three to visit, simply because the two brothers disliked their stepmother and the twins who came later? They never even brought the two siblings to the ancestral worship ceremonies, truly not intending for their ancestors to recognize them.

When Bai Nuo and Fang Meng were in the countryside, the elderly couple sent a lot of things and money to the two children after they learned about it. After returning to Beijing, Fang Meng also visited the elderly couple alone, bringing with him the medicinal wine and tea that Bai Nuo had specially brewed.

Both of them are inherently domineering and protective of their own. Now that they know that bastard hurt the old lady, how could they possibly tolerate it? They are soldiers now, but they are definitely not cuckolds who can be so tolerant!

Right now, every household is busy preparing for the New Year's Eve dinner, and Fang Guoqiang is also busy at the end of the year. He currently works at the General Political Department of the Beijing Military Region, serving as the Director of the Organization Bureau of the Organization Department, a position equivalent to a division commander.

He does look quite impressive. Approaching forty-five, he has already reached this position. Everyone would say he is capable. But compared to his childhood friends, his rank of major general is not enough.

Especially Zhu Kaixuan, the youngest son of the Zhu family, who had just returned to the unit, was already a corps commander at the age of thirty-seven. His future was truly limitless.

Not to mention the other brothers of the Zhu family, each with a higher position and greater status than the last.

The Zhu family's sons are all very capable. As long as they don't cause trouble, their future is definitely bright. They are sure to be good sons who bring honor to their parents and elders.

His two sons are naturally not bad either. At a young age, they are key officers being groomed by their respective military regions. In particular, his second son is only nineteen years old this year and is already the deputy regimental commander of a key combat-ready military region. It is no exaggeration to say that he is the youngest deputy regimental commander in the entire military region.

What father wouldn't be happy to have a son like this? He'd be laughing in his sleep.

But his son...

Fang Guoqiang rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. Thinking about the farce at home a few days ago, he was grateful his son hadn't brought him any honor; he'd be thankful if he hadn't come back and shot him twice.

"Guoqiang, come and eat. I made all your favorite dishes today." A gentle, melodious voice came from the kitchen as Mu Lian, wearing a bright red polyester shirt and with a graceful posture, walked out carrying a white plate.

In her early thirties, she had a delicate and charming appearance. Although her looks weren't stunning at first glance, she was still a petite and delicate beauty, like a willow branch. She always looked at her husband with an expression of adoration and affection, like a tender and harmless dodder vine, making some men with a macho mentality at heart want to protect her.
