Chapter 372 Their homeland is vast and beautiful

The Environmental Protection Bureau received a report at the last minute. It was a robbery and assault case submitted by a nearby police station. In this day and age, there are no surveillance cameras or the internet. Investigating cases and finding people relies entirely on manpower to visit and investigate. It really means going door to door.
After examining the scene, the trace evidence team from the Criminal Investigation Technology Department returned to the station to conduct tests. There weren't enough people to conduct investigations and interviews. Not to mention Bai Nuo, who was temporarily requisitioned, even the two young ladies from the forensic medicine department were pulled in to do manual labor.
Bai Nuo and his team worked all night and went out again early in the morning. They finally found several suspected witnesses. Based on each of their descriptions, Bai Nuo quickly drew five portraits.
She swore she had never sketched so fast before; the pen in her hand was practically flying.
"Bai Ke, are you finished drawing? You're going to be late for class!" Yan Qingyun rushed in from outside, glancing at the timetable posted on the notice board on the wall near the entrance.
Captain Qiu took the lead in posting this timetable, fearing that the bureau's busy schedule would delay his classes as a student in the school brigade.
These days, college students are extremely rare, and Bai Nuo is the youngest member of their branch's criminal investigation department, as well as one of the few college students. Every colleague is keeping a close eye on their child's schooling.
In their words, nothing can be delayed except learning.
"I'm done!" Bai Nuo turned around and slammed the five sheets of drawing paper on the table.
"Hurry up and go to class. This is our captain's bicycle key. He asked me to bring it to you when I came up here."
"No need, no need, I can run there in time. You guys have to go out for visits later, and it's inconvenient without a car. By the way, my car keys are in the first drawer of the cabinet on the left side when you enter my office. If the bureau's car can't pass, just take my car."
Bai Nuo and Yan Qingyun withdrew their hands from the keys, turned around, grabbed their small handbags from Liu Yanan's desk, and ran out.
"Hey, no, your car..." Yan Qingyun looked at the little girl who had disappeared in an instant, both amused and exasperated, and smiled helplessly.
This girl is really carefree. The car is parked in the backyard. He went down to check it yesterday. It's definitely a brand new car. These days, even a brand new bicycle is treated like a family treasure by its owner. Let alone lending it out, many people wouldn't even let a stranger touch it.
This Bai Ke is something else, he just lends out cars whenever he wants!
However, the team leader had already told everyone in the department that unless it was a matter of life and death, no one was allowed to touch the car in the backyard. The girl's family had given her a gift, so she must cherish it. Lending it to them for an emergency was a sign of their trust in their colleagues, but they couldn't be ungrateful!
Bai Nuo originally wanted to go home to the affiliated college to change her clothes, but when she saw that there was no time, she could only run as soon as she left the branch office and finally stepped into the classroom of the history department.
"Nono, over here..." Shan Shushu spotted the little girl running in from behind and quickly waved her hand, calling out softly.
Bai Nuo raised an eyebrow and crouched down to dart over to her roommate's side.
When I ran over, I found out... half the dorm was there.
The first person to see Bai Nuo was Shan Shushu, a Spanish major in the Department of Foreign Languages. Next to her sat Mu Yuelan, a Russian major in the same department. On the other side were Liu Ying, a biochemistry major, and Jiang Hongtao, an engineering chemistry major.
Bai Nuo looked at her roommates with confusion. She remembered that only she and Jiang Hongtao had been punished by the principal to attend classes in the history department for a month!
When Jiang Hongtao and Liu Ying saw Bai Nuo arrive, they quickly moved aside and gave up the seat that had been specially reserved for Bai Nuo.
"Come in quickly, we specially saved a seat for you. We were worried you wouldn't make it back in time."
Bai Nuo quickly thanked her roommates with a smile, then crouched down and went inside to sit in the middle seat between Liu Ying and Shan Shushu.
"I made a special trip back, thankfully I made it in time, otherwise the principal would probably have extended the punishment time! Why are you all here?" Bai Nuo pouted, on the verge of tears.
If the principal hadn't added that extra penalty, she would have definitely been able to skip those history classes.
"We just happened to be free of classes, so these two dragged us here together!" Mu Yuelan shrugged helplessly.
The Department of History at Kyoto University was reopened at the beginning of this year. There weren't many applicants; most were students transferred from other departments. These students had very different levels of knowledge, with some perhaps having only completed elementary school.
However, the people who came were very eager to learn. Everyone was in good spirits, sitting upright and concentrating on the large blackboard at the front. As for whether they could understand it, and how many of them could understand it, that was unknown.
The history professor looked to be in his fifties or sixties, with gray hair, obvious signs of aging on his face, dark skin, and a haggard appearance, but his eyes were exceptionally bright, and carried a tenacity unique to this era.
"I heard that this teacher was exonerated at the end of last year. He used to be a professor in the history department at Tsinghua University, but he was falsely accused and sent to the countryside for several years." Shan Shushu saw Bai Nuo looking curiously at the history teacher who had just entered the room, and whispered the information she had found out to her.
"Wow, Shan Shushu, it seems like nothing at school can be kept from you." Bai Nuo looked at her seemingly quiet and virtuous but actually extremely gossipy roommate with amusement.
“Our school hasn’t reopened the journalism department yet, otherwise this guy wouldn’t have gone to study foreign languages, but would have switched directly to journalism.” Mu Yuelan leaned close to Bai Nuo and whispered in her ear.
