Sang Yuwan watched him walk into the bathroom before turning her gaze away, pursing her lips slightly, and leaning back on the sofa with her eyes half-closed.

Minglang knocked twice before letting Ning Wanzhen in.

“Wanwan…” Ning Wanzhen was stunned when she saw that Sang Yuwan seemed to have fallen asleep.

Minglang breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't see Rong Zhi. "Madam, I'll go wake you up."

Ning Wanzhen quickly waved her hand to stop her, "Don't wake her, I'll sit here and wait."

Upon hearing this, Minglang's heart leaped into his throat again. His fingers tightened, and he forced down his nervousness. "Madam, if there's anything you need, I can pass on your message."

Ning Wanzhen shook her head, "I'll sit with her for a while, you can go now."

Minglang's whole body tensed, and his lips trembled involuntarily a few times. "Madam, this..."

Ning Wanzhen didn't notice anything unusual. Feeling guilty, she walked to the sofa and sat down silently.

Minglang couldn't forcibly drag her away, so he could only bite the bullet and say, "Madam, I'll go get you a glass of water."

Sang Yuwan's eyebrows twitched, as if she had been awakened by his voice, and she slowly opened her eyes.

Ning Wanzhen's eyes lit up when she saw him. "Wanwan, you're awake?"

Sang Yuwan adjusted her posture, clenched her right fist, and pressed it against her forehead. "Mom, how long have you been here?"

Ning Wanzhen tucked the blanket around her, a hint of concern in her eyes. "You just arrived. Wanwan, are you feeling better?"

Sang Yuwan pursed her lips, slowly tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear, and said softly, "Much better."

Ning Wanzhen paused for a moment, then said, "Wanwan, after you're discharged from the hospital, why don't we move back to the old house? I'll take care of you myself."

Sang Yuwan sneered inwardly, "Aunt Jiang said that it's best to rest quietly after being discharged from the hospital. There are too many people in the old house, so it's not suitable for a pregnancy."

Ning Wanzhen looked slightly embarrassed when she saw Minglang refuse. She took the water glass Minglang offered, took two sips, and said, "You're right..."

Sang Yuwan was eager for her to leave, and the corners of her lips curved into a smile, "Mom, I have a video conference later, what do you think?"

Ning Wanzhen was taken aback. "Is it that important?"

Minglang interjected, "It's very important; Madam must attend."

Ning Wanzhen felt even more guilty, and her eyes reddened slightly. "Wanwan, work is important, but your health is even more important. Some things can be delegated to the staff."

Sang Yuwan smiled and said, "Compared to Dad and Xingzhi, my workload has decreased significantly."

Ning Wanzhen's heart clenched painfully, her chest tightened with sorrow, and her eyes reddened even more. After a few minutes, she slowly spoke, "Wanwan, no matter what, you must take good care of yourself."

Sang Yuwan frowned, her tone softening slightly, "Mom, don't worry. I'll take good care of myself." Turning to Minglang, she said, "Minglang, take the old lady downstairs."

Minglang immediately replied, "Yes."

Seeing this, Ning Wanzhen felt she couldn't stay any longer, so she put down her water glass and stood up.

Sang Yuwan stood up as well, "Mom, I won't see you out."

Ning Wanzhen's eyes were red. "Wanwan, I've thought it through regarding the shares. Don't worry, I'll never have those thoughts again. It's just that your little sister Xin'er..."

Sang Yuwan's brows furrowed, and she asked coldly, "What's wrong with her?"

Ning Wanzhen hesitated for a moment, "No...it's nothing...I'm leaving."

Sang Yuwan didn't press further. "Okay."

Ning Wanzhen took a few steps, then suddenly felt a stomachache and frowned. "Wanwan, I need to use the restroom."

Sang Yuwan's breath caught in her throat. She grabbed her arm, suppressing her panic, and said, "The restroom is being disinfected. I'll take you outside."

A hint of surprise flashed across Ning Wanzhen's eyes, but she didn't think much of it and covered her lower abdomen with her right hand. "Okay."

Sang Yuwan gave a knowing look.

Minglang came over and helped Ning Wanzhen up.

The ward door slammed shut.

With a click, the bathroom door opened from the inside.

Rong Zhi's lips twitched. He walked to the sofa and sat down. He took out his phone and dialed a number back.

"What's up?"

"Ah Zhi, your grandfather hasn't been buried yet, how could you leave already?" The other person's first words were reproachful.

Rong Zhi crossed his legs, one hand resting on the armrest of the chair, and asked in a nonchalant tone, "Why can't I leave?"

“You are his only grandson, and you should observe seven days of mourning for him.” The other person’s tone became increasingly stern.

Rong Zhi gave a cold smile. "Three days is enough."

"Bo Xingzhi passed away, and you knelt before his coffin for a whole day and night. What's wrong with keeping vigil for your maternal grandfather for seven days?" The other person became angry.

Rong Zhi picked up Sang Yuwan's water glass and took two sips. His gaze sharpened, and his words were piercing, "The Bo family raised me for over twenty years, but has he ever raised me for even a single day?"

"You..." The other person was silent for a few minutes, then their voice became much lower, "You can't say that. If it weren't for him, how could you exist? You still have his blood in your veins."

Rong Zhi lowered his brow slightly, a mocking smile appearing on his lips. "Rong Moyuan, I never expected these words to come out of your mouth."

"Rong Zhi!" the other party roared in anger.

Rong Zhi curled his lips into a sneer, "Rong Moyuan, you don't need to get so angry. If it weren't for me, everything in the Rong family would be yours."

The tea in the cup rippled slightly, like a gentle breeze across a pool.

"Rong Zhi, I have been more than kind to you. You should take care of yourself."

After the other party finished speaking, they hung up the phone.

"Beep beep beep..."

Rong Zhi narrowed his eyes, sneered, and took the phone away from his ear.

The ward door opened from the outside.

"Wanwan, there's one more thing..."

Rong Zhi's back stiffened.

Ning Wanzhen froze on the spot, her pupils suddenly contracted, and she was completely frozen, unable to move.

Rong Zhi calmly uncrossed his legs, stood up, and looked at him, "Mother, you've come."

Ning Wanzhen's eyes widened, her face turning somewhat unpleasant. "When did you come in?"

Rong Zhi replied calmly, "I just arrived."

Ning Wanzhen's heart pounded, and suspicion arose in her mind. "Do you need something from Wanwan?"

Rong Zhi remained calm. "There's a document that needs her signature."

Ning Wanzhen took a deep breath, "From now on, have your secretary handle these kinds of things. Those who know, they'll think you're here on business. Those who don't, will think you and her..."

Rong Zhi chuckled lightly, "You thought I had some unspeakable secret with her?"

“You…” Ning Wanzhen’s face stiffened, and her ears turned red.

Rong Zhi remained calm and composed, and said, "If there really is something between me and her, it's none of anyone else's business."

Sang Yuwan, who had just entered, caught her breath, her eyes narrowed, and she called out, "Rong Zhi!"

Ning Wanzhen's face turned pale, and the muscles in her face gradually contracted. "Wanwan, listen to what he's saying?"

Rong Zhi smiled faintly, "Mother, does it mean that she and I can never be alone together in this lifetime?"

Ning Wanzhen looked at him with anger and shock, "What exactly do you mean?"

Sang Yuwan walked in, her eyes dark and brooding. "Stop talking, all of you." She looked at Ning Wanzhen. "Mom, I've told you about this so many times. What do you need to do to put your mind at ease?"

“Wanwan, I…” Ning Wanzhen’s expression suddenly turned extremely ugly.

Sang Yuwan turned her head and looked at Rong Zhi again, "You too, knowing that meeting me alone will cause criticism, you still insist on doing it your own way."

Rong Zhi replied, "A person with a straight body has nothing to fear from a crooked shadow."

Sang Yuwan's heart skipped a beat.

He didn't find it sarcastic when he said that.

She took a deep breath, walked to the hospital bed, pulled back the covers, and lay down.

Seeing this, Ning Wanzhen's expression softened slightly. "Wanwan, I'm going back. You get some rest."

Rong Zhi called out to her, "Mother, wait a moment."

Ning Wanzhen's expression changed again, and her tone became impatient, "What is it?"

Rong Zhi walked to the bedside and opened the drawer of the bedside table.

Sang Yuwan was immediately terrified. "Rong Zhi, what are you going to do?"
