What?
Were they not here to see the King of Chu?
The servant stood there awkwardly, stunned. This...
He watched Su Liluo's heartless back as she left, and he almost cried.
How is he going to explain this to the King of Chu?
If the King of Chu found out that he was just being presumptuous, how angry would he be?
But there was nothing he could do; the Crown Princess simply refused to see the King of Chu, so he had no choice but to tell her the truth.
When the servant returned to the guest room and relayed Su Liluo's words to Xiao Churen, Xiao Churen's face was so gloomy it could drip water.
"Is she playing hard to get with me?"
"......"
The servant was dumbfounded. Had their lord misunderstood something?
"Your Highness, it seems the Crown Princess really has something to discuss here!"
The servant felt he needed to explain, but as soon as he finished speaking, he met Xiao Churen's sinister gaze.
He had no choice but to shut up.
"Where is she? Take me there!"
Xiao Churen coldly gave the order, wanting to see what Su Liluo was up to.
This is the restaurant where I invited her. If she wanted to reject me, why did she come here?
She's trying to force herself to go to him!
Okay, he'll do as she wishes.
Helpless, the servant led Xiao Churen to the door of the room that Su Liluo had just entered.
Xiao Churen didn't knock; he simply pushed the door open.
Inside the room, Su Liluo was sitting at the table drinking tea, waiting for the servant to call the manager of the restaurant.
Seeing Su Lilu sitting there leisurely, Xiao Churen thought to himself, "Just as I thought!"
Then he strode in and sat down on the other side of the table.
He sneered, "As you wish, I have come to find you of my own accord."
Su Liluo: "..."
The two maids behind him also looked at Xiao Churen with curiosity and surprise, but hesitated to speak.
Suddenly, Su Liluo chuckled softly.
"Didn't Your Highness's servant tell you that I am not here to see you today? Please do not bother me, Your Highness."
"What did you say?"
He's harassing her?
Xiao Churen's brow twitched violently, as if he had suffered a great humiliation upon hearing these words.
"If you didn't come to see me, then why are you in this restaurant?"
"Does being in this restaurant necessarily mean I'm meeting the King of Chu? King of Chu, you're being too..."
You're just being presumptuous!
Su Liluo almost burst out laughing.
Xiao Churen, however, thought Su Lilu was making excuses and said seriously, "I'm already here, so stop pretending and let them all leave first!"
He has something important to say.
Seeing that she didn't believe him, Su Liluo could only shake her head helplessly.
"I'm sorry, King Chu, I really didn't come to see you. As for why I came here, this is my property. Can't I come here?"
"What did you say?"
Is this her business?
Xiao Churen was utterly astonished.
Just then, the restaurant manager pushed open the door and came in.
He had never met the prince, nor had he ever met Su Liluo.
Upon entering, he immediately asked, "Excuse me, which one of you is the new employer?"
Looking at this man, Xiao Churen realized he should believe it now, even if he didn't want to.
He looked embarrassed, feeling that he had made a huge fool of himself today and couldn't stay any longer.
So he stood up, coldly flicked his sleeves, and walked out of the house.
Su Lilu smiled and looked at the steward: "Me."
The steward came in, greeted Su Liluo respectfully, and then asked her if she had any instructions.
Su Liluo threw the accounts she had found in front of the manager, "These are all Huayunlou's account books for the past few months? They only make a few hundred taels of silver a month in net profit?"
The manager's heart tightened as he looked at Su Liluo's unfriendly expression.
He bowed and said, "Well... Huayunlou's business was indeed not very good in the past two months."
"Really? But I just noticed that this restaurant is packed with customers, there are hardly any empty seats, and there's a constant stream of people coming and going at the entrance. Business seems to be booming!"
Before you arrived, I asked a few of the waiters and regular customers, and they said that Huayunlou is always very popular and is the most successful restaurant in the city.
"The best restaurant in town can only earn a few hundred taels of silver a month?"
Su Liluo's voice was as cold as ice, and her gaze was chilling as she looked at the steward.
"This... they might have misunderstood. Huayunlou's business isn't really that good. Many customers just come in to take a look and then leave."
The steward broke out in a cold sweat, his eyes darting around.
"Just take a look and leave? Does Huayun Tower allow so many people to come in for sightseeing every day?"
Su Liluo sneered, then slammed the ledger in her hand to the ground with a 'bang'.
"I'm afraid you have some hidden agenda! Should I go downstairs and investigate who came in to take a look but left without eating or drinking?"
"this......"
The manager was so frightened that he knelt on the ground.
Actually, he wasn't the real manager of the restaurant.
He's only in charge on the surface; in reality, the Jiang family is managing things behind the scenes.
He only recently learned that the restaurant had been given to the Crown Princess; no one had told him that the Crown Princess would be coming to check the accounts.
"I'm giving you a chance to confess. If you tell the truth, you can live a good life. If you lie, then I'll send you to jail for interrogation!"
"No, no, this old servant says."
When the manager heard that he would go to jail, he dared not refuse.
So he honestly admitted that he was only nominally in charge, and that the real people in charge behind the scenes were from the Jiang family.
