Chapter 85 Donate your mouth if you don't need it anymore.
Oh no, the bandages were in my pack at the campsite; I didn't bring them with me.
Seeing Cheng Lanzhou's face growing paler and her lips losing all color, she gritted her teeth, mimicking what she did in TV dramas, pulled up the hem of her outer garment, bit it, and ripped it off forcefully.
With a "whoosh," the fabric ripped apart, tearing off a long strip.
Her eyes lit up; she hadn't expected this method to actually work. She tore the cloth twice more before she had enough strips.
Cheng Lanzhou watched as she tore her perfectly good clothes to shreds, the hem shortening considerably to reveal her slender ankles. He was about to say something when she interrupted him, "Don't talk, save your energy."
Jiang Yutang carefully pressed the cloth strips against the wound, then wrapped them tightly around it.
After bandaging her up, she breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Cheng Lanzhou's still pale face, she said softly, "You rest here for a while. I'll go look around and find my third brother."
She paused, a hint of unease in her voice: "Those screams just now must mean that Third Brother encountered another group of bandits. I need to go see if I can come to his aid."
Cheng Lanzhou nodded, his voice hoarse: "Be careful, don't go too far, and run back if you encounter danger." He tried to sit up, but the movement aggravated his wound, causing him to wince in pain, so he had to give up.
Jiang Yutang responded and then told him, "Don't move around," before turning and walking out of the small cave.
Cheng Lanzhou exhaled and leaned against the rock wall to rest. Excessive blood loss made him dizzy, and his eyelids felt as heavy as lead.
He dozed off several times, only to be awakened each time by the stinging pain of his wound. When he opened his eyes again, he saw a figure darting past the entrance of the hole, bending down and peering inside.
When he saw clearly that it was a tall and thick silhouette, he instantly came to his senses.
It's a man's figure!
He immediately braced himself against the rock wall and stood up, going into a state of alert. The wound in his abdomen was aggravated, causing him to break out in a cold sweat, but he still stared intently at the person who had come.
The one who came in was a bandit with a hideous scar on his face. When he saw Cheng Lanzhou, he was taken aback at first, then looked him up and down, especially when he saw his abdomen wrapped in bandages and seeping blood. He then sneered.
"You're the person our boss is looking for? You look like a pretty boy, what kind of threat could you pose?"
Cheng Lanzhou ignored his taunts, pressed her left hand tightly against the wound, and quietly reached for the folding knife at her waist with her right hand, her eyes as cold as ice.
Seeing that he was still trying to resist despite his serious injuries, the bandits sneered and suddenly drew their broadswords from their backs, the blades reflecting a cold light in the dim cave.
He brandished his knife at Cheng Lanzhou, taunting, "If you know what's good for you, come with me obediently, and I'll guarantee you a whole corpse. Otherwise, I'll kill you right now!"
How could Cheng Lanzhou sit idly by and wait for his death? He stared intently at the bandits, his eyes as fierce as a wounded cheetah. Even though he was powerless, he still exuded a terrifying aura.
Just as he was gathering his strength to make a move, his eyes suddenly glanced behind the bandits, and his tense shoulders slowly relaxed.
The bandits, thinking he had given up resisting, chuckled smugly and stepped forward to take him hostage.
"Bang!"
A muffled thud suddenly rang out, and a wooden stick as thick as a wrist was raised high and smashed down hard on the bandit's head! But unexpectedly, this wooden stick, which had been damp and corroded in the forest for many years, was not sturdy at all. With a crisp "crack", it broke into two pieces.
Jiang Yutang stood there dumbfounded, clutching half a wooden stick in his hand, panting heavily, watching the bandit slowly rub the back of his head and turn around.
"Which blind fool dares to ambush me!" The bandit cursed, glaring fiercely at Jiang Yutang with murderous intent in his eyes.
Jiang Yutang's heart skipped a beat. She immediately threw the broken wooden stick in her hand to the ground and forced a smile, saying, "Mistake, accidental injury! It was purely an accident!"
"Accident?"
Enraged, the bandit's face turned ashen. He raised his broadsword and charged at Jiang Yutang, shouting, "I'll send you to meet the King of Hell today!"
Seeing the broadsword held above his head, gleaming coldly, Jiang Yutang reacted swiftly, pulling out a mini pepper spray from his pocket, aiming it at the bandit's face, and forcefully pressing the switch. The pungent spray instantly erupted.
"Ah—my eyes!"
The bandit screamed in agony, his broadsword clattering to the ground. He rolled on the spot, clutching his eyes and howling in pain, "What the hell is this?! It's burning my ass!"
Taking advantage of the moment, Cheng Lanzhou quickly bent down and picked up the large knife that had fallen to the ground. His eyes sharpened, and with a swift and decisive stroke, he killed the bandit who was still rolling on the ground.
Jiang Yutang immediately turned her head to the side, her brows furrowed tightly. She was still not used to the shouts and screams of life and death in this moment, and her stomach was churning slightly.
Cheng Lanzhou glanced at the corpse on the ground, sheathed his broadsword, and said in a hoarse voice, "Let's go."
Jiang Yutang remained silent for a moment, then helped him out of the cave and walked forward in the direction she had just explored.
“I couldn’t find my third brother just now, but I figured out the way back.” She said as she walked, her tone somewhat confident. “If we follow this road back, we might run into him on the way.”
"How can you be so sure he can get away?" Cheng Lanzhou bluntly shattered her optimism. "What if he..."
"Shut up!"
Before he could finish speaking, Jiang Yutang stomped on his foot hard.
Cheng Lanzhou groaned in pain and glared at her.
"We risked our lives to save you, can you please stop saying such sarcastic things!" Jiang Yutang's eyes reddened, her tone tinged with grievance and anger.
If something were to happen to Jiang Huaiyu, she would feel guilty for the rest of her life. She would never allow anyone to curse Jiang Huaiyu to have an accident.
As soon as he finished speaking, a rustling sound of leaves rustling came from ahead, indicating that someone was approaching.
Cheng Lanzhou immediately shielded Jiang Yutang behind him, gripped his broadsword tightly, and warily aimed at the bushes in front of him.
A cold glint appeared on the other side, indicating that they were also carrying weapons.
The two sides were instantly locked in a stalemate, and the atmosphere became extremely tense. Just then, a cold light slashed out from the trees and bushes, heading straight for Cheng Lanzhou's face!
Cheng Lanzhou reacted extremely quickly, raising his hand to steadily block with his broadsword. With a crisp "clang," sparks flew everywhere.
After seeing what the person looked like, the two of them were stunned.
"Third Brother!" Jiang Yutang exclaimed in surprise.
Jiang Huaiyu recognized them too, let out a long sigh of relief, and quickly put down his knife: "Finally found you! I just fought with another group of bandits, and after scattering them, I've been looking for you ever since. I was so worried!"
"Third Brother, are you alright? Are you hurt?" Jiang Yutang quickly stepped forward to check Jiang Huaiyu for any wounds.
"Ha, little sister, you underestimate your third brother too much. Just a few bandits..."
Jiang Huaiyu glanced at the bandage on Cheng Lanzhou's abdomen, which was already soaked with fresh blood, and her brows furrowed instantly: "The situation is urgent, I'll carry him!"
Without waiting for a reply, he squatted down and gestured for Cheng Lanzhou to come up: "The bandits have already sent someone to call for backup. We need to leave here immediately, or we'll be in trouble!"
Cheng Lanzhou didn't hesitate and decisively climbed onto Jiang Huaiyu's back, gasping in pain when she touched the wound.
"Bear with it." Jiang Huaiyu carried him on her back and started running steadily. Jiang Yutang followed behind them and started running, glancing back every now and then.
