Cang Daoquan nodded, inquired about Qing Xuanzi's recent situation with Rong Jiaojiao, and then instructed Sang Hua to take good care of Rong Jiaojiao before going about his business.
The two stayed overnight in Bing City and set off early the next morning. However, there was no train to Qiuze County, only a few buses that ran back and forth between the county and the city several times a day.
The two arrived at the bus station early, bought their tickets, and went to wait on the bus. However, they had only been sitting for a short while when they saw five familiar faces. Rong Jiaojiao sighed inwardly, "What a coincidence!"
With her dark, bright eyes watching Peng Yang, she kept trying to get closer to Yang Jianguo, while Lin Wanwan clung tightly to Peng Yang, and Zhuo Shang walked to the side with a grim expression.
Only Ming Zihao strode ahead, not even glancing at Yang Jianguo, who was walking with some difficulty.
Rong Jiaojiao was very curious. Had Yang Jianguo done something to make Ming Zihao angry?
When Rong Jiaojiao saw the five people also arrive at their car, she felt even more that it was fate.
The driver helped them put their luggage away before the five of them got into the car.
Ming Zihao, who was walking in front, immediately recognized two familiar faces. He paused, nodded to Rong Jiaojiao and the others, and sat down behind them.
Yang Jianguo was very happy to see Rong Jiaojiao. She quickly walked over, took Rong Jiaojiao's hand, and said, "Jiaojiao, what are you doing here? Are you also going to Qiuzhe County?"
Rong Jiaojiao smiled and said, "Hello, Sister Jianguo. I'm also going to Qiuze County."
Yang Jianguo nodded, and seeing that no one was sitting in the row behind Rong Jiaojiao and the others, he sat down on the spot. He said, "I didn't ask before, I thought you were just going to Bing City. What are you doing in Qiuze County?"
Rong Jiaojiao didn't hide anything: "I'm going home."
"Are you from Qiuze County?"
"No, it's near Qiuze County."
Lin Wanwan was sitting on the other side of the aisle. She exclaimed in surprise, "I didn't expect you to be from the countryside. I really couldn't tell from your clothes."
Rong Jiaojiao rolled her eyes. Was this an insinuation that she was pretending to be a city person?
However, she was too lazy to pay attention to such petty schemes, and simply smiled faintly, saying, "Sister Lin, can others tell that you are the kind of person who likes to steal other people's fiancés?"
Lin Wanwan was so angry that her face turned red. If someone with ulterior motives used this to make a fuss, she would be labeled as having improper conduct, and what good would that mean for her?
She wanted to tear Rong Jiaojiao to pieces, but there was nothing she could do. All she could do was sulk in the back.
Although Yang Jianguo had already let go of Peng Yang, he still felt very pleased to see Lin Wanwan suffer a setback.
She gave Rong Jiaojiao a thumbs up: "You're so good at talking. I'm always tongue-tied and I always get really angry at her, and I can't win an argument with her."
Rong Jiaojiao grinned and said, "Sister Yang, when you don't care about other people's opinions, you can say anything."
Yang Jianguo said awkwardly, "I just can't bring myself to say it."
Rong Jiaojiao shrugged. This was the result of being raised and protected too well by her family.
As they were talking, more and more people got on the bus. When the time came, the driver started the bus and headed towards Qiuze County.
The bus stopped and started along the way, with people getting on and off. Soon the bus was packed with people. When it encountered a large pothole, the bus bounced high into the air. Except for a few educated youths, the people on the bus seemed to be used to it. Some continued to talk loudly, while others held onto the armrests of the tables and chairs, looking calm.
Rong Jiaojiao found it very interesting. After shutting off her sense of smell, she looked around and everything was a unique experience.
However, some people got so carsick that they felt dizzy and disoriented. One woman opened the car window and started vomiting, which caused many others to feel nauseous as well.
Rong Jiaojiao could tell from Sang Hua's furrowed brows that he was not used to this environment, and she felt a little sorry for him.
Two hours later, the car finally stopped at the Qiuzhe County bus station.
After getting off the bus, Sang Hua asked, "How do I get there next?"
Rong Jiaojiao was at a loss. Her parents only gave her the address, but didn't say how to get to the military base or what kind of transportation to take.
She scratched her head and said, "My parents probably didn't expect me to come back. They only gave me the mailing address, but didn't tell me how to get to the army."
At this moment, someone chimed in: "Young comrade, are you going to the newly moved 56th Division's garrison?"
Rong Jiaojiao turned her head and saw a group of middle-aged women, all carrying large and small bags.
The person asking the question was a woman who was missing an arm. Rong Jiaojiao nodded: "Yes, Auntie, do you know how to get there?"
After looking her up and down for a while, the woman asked, "Whose child are you? You look familiar."
Another person remarked, "He looks a bit like Dr. Fu!"
Rong Jiaojiao was certain that this was a family member from the same military region as her parents. She flashed her white teeth and said happily, "My dad's surname is Rong, my mom's surname is Fu, and my name is Rong Jiaojiao."
The group of women immediately became enthusiastic: "Oh my, I'm so glad to see this little girl! You just came back from outside, are you going to the military region?"
Rong Jiaojiao nodded obediently. Yang Jianguo and the others had just finished unloading their luggage when they saw Rong Jiaojiao surrounded by a group of women. They thought something had happened, but after listening for a while, they learned that Rong Jiaojiao was actually a military dependent.
Ming Zihao and Yang Jianguo thought the little girl was quite tight-lipped, but Lin Wanwan thought Rong Jiaojiao was scheming and didn't tell them the truth.
The woman without arms smiled and said, "We were just about to go back. You can come with us."
"By the way, my name is Xiang Lan, and my husband is also a soldier."
Rong Jiaojiao smiled sweetly and said, "Then thank you Aunt Xiang and all the aunties and madams!"
A woman smiled and said, "This girl is quite polite. My name is Wang Ping. I held you when you were just born."
"Hello, Aunt Wang Ping!"
Wang Ping smiled and said, "Alright! Jiaojiao, who is this person next to you?"
Sang Hua stood there calmly, his otherworldly demeanor attracting frequent glances from both young and old women.
Rong Jiaojiao then remembered him and quickly said, "This is the brother who brought me back, Brother Sanghua. Why don't you just drop me off here? My aunt and I can go back the rest of the way!"
Sang Hua shook her head: "I need to hand you over to your parents first, otherwise I won't be able to explain if something happens."
"Alright!"
Rong Jiaojiao smiled helplessly. She knew Sang Hua's personality well; once he made a decision, he wouldn't easily change it.
So she turned to Xiang Lan and said, "Aunt Xiang, Aunt Wang Ping, please take us with you."
Xiang Lan laughed heartily: "It's okay, let's go, it'll only take about twenty minutes by bus."
Rong Jiaojiao waved to Yang Jianguo: "Sister Jianguo, I'm in the 56th Division's family compound. Come visit me sometime!"
Yang Jianguo was pleased that Rong Jiaojiao said goodbye to him alone, and he smiled and said, "Okay, I'll definitely come to see you when I have time."
"goodbye!"
"goodbye!"
Rong Jiaojiao followed Xiang Lan and the others to the bus, which was already half full. They sat down for a while before the bus was full. Rong Jiaojiao thought the bus was about to leave, but it still didn't move.
