Chapter 534: On Male Reproductive Issues

Liu Guifang received no comfort, but was instead scolded. She felt wronged but couldn't express it. She said helplessly, "You see, for every one thing I say, he has ten more to say. He never gives in to me. For so many years, I have suffered in silence."

Political Commissar Zhang spoke earnestly, "Old Yang, you still need to take care of your family appropriately. You can't just be a hands-off manager. You need to balance work and family."

“You’re so busy with work, how can you take care of your family? Besides, what is there for me to do at home? I can’t possibly come home early every day to cook for you. What are you going to do then?” he questioned Liu Guifang.

"I........"

Liu Guifang has given up on defending herself and arguing.

She shouldn't have brought this up.

If she brings it up, she'll be accused of being dramatic; no one can possibly care about her feelings or how hard she works.

They'll just think she's a lazy bum, enjoying her retirement at home but still causing trouble.

She waved her hand, giving up the struggle, "There's nothing for you to do at home. Go do your work. I don't want to argue with you, so we don't become a laughing stock."

Seeing her lose, Instructor Yang seemed rather smug. "See? You can't argue with me now, can you?"

Lu Ye noticed that Bai Zhi looked at Liu Guifang with a face full of sympathy.

He took her hand and said softly, "Don't worry, I won't follow in Lao Yang's footsteps."

Instructor Yang, "........."

He glanced at Lu Ye and said quietly, "If you have time to take care of family matters in the future, I'll consider you amazing."

Lu Ye said, "Whether you have time or not is not important; what's important is having the will."

"You're still too young. You'll understand in a few years."

Sometimes, it might not be that I'm really busy at work, but as soon as I get home, faced with my child's crying and my wife's nagging, I always find myself unconsciously heading back to work.

After the meal, Political Commissar Zhang wanted to take the child home, saying he needed to take medicine.

Before leaving, Political Commissar Zhang said to Bai Zhi, "Dr. Bai, please take a look at the child in a few days. After he finishes this dose of medicine, I won't take him to the hospital for more."

"Okay, after the fifth day of the lunar new year."

Bai Zhi handed Xiao Wei and Yang Kai each a brand new ten-yuan bill, saying, "Here you go, Xiao Wei, Xiao Kai, this is your New Year's money from Auntie."

Xiao Wei first looked at his father.

Political Commissar Zhang originally did not support the practice of giving New Year's money, but Bai Zhi said that this was her first time spending the New Year in the family compound, and it was a gift for the children, so the parents were not allowed to stop her.

He had no choice but to let Xiaowei take it.

Xiao Wei took the money, looked up at his mother, and thanked her, "Thank you, Aunt Angel."

When Xiaowei came to wish her a Happy New Year in the morning, Liu Guifang gave him lucky money, two yuan, which was already a large sum.

When she saw what Bai Zhi gave to the children, the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.

There's no comparison at all.

This little white thing acts like a low-key rich woman.

Yang Kai accepted the New Year's money and said, "Aunt Xiaobai, Happy New Year! I wish you abundant wealth and all the best in the new year."

Bai Zhi loved hearing the children's auspicious words. "Thank you for your kind words. If I make a fortune, I'll give you all big red envelopes next year."

She then planned to go home with Lu Ye.

It is only polite to reciprocate. Before leaving, Bai Zhi sincerely invited Liu Guifang's family, "Sister-in-law, when would you, Instructor Yang, and Xiao Kai come to my house for a visit? I'll cook for you."

Liu Guifang smiled and said, "Don't bother cooking. We'll come to your house to see your big color TV later."

"Sure, you're welcome anytime."

The couple returned home late at night.

So the two of them stayed home and watched TV.

I didn't go out again.

After having brunch on the second day of the Lunar New Year, Lu Ye took Bai Zhi out for a stroll.

The market was quite lively, with some local folk performances and many vendors selling firecrackers and children's juggling toys.

There weren't many people on the street. Locals were busy visiting relatives and celebrating the Lunar New Year, so there were hardly any people out specifically to stroll around.

Most people on the street are riding bicycles to visit relatives.

According to custom, today is the day for sons-in-law to visit their fathers-in-law to pay New Year's greetings.

A bag of snacks, or a bag of biscuits, or a can of food in a mesh bag was strapped to the back of the bicycle.

The people of that era were so simple and honest.

The living standards of ordinary people in small towns are low, and they don't pay as much attention to gifts as people in cities.

But their spirits are truly positive and energetic.

It's pleasing to the eye.

Bai Zhi and Lu Ye strolled around for a while but didn't buy much. Bai Zhi did buy some trinkets, though.

The two wandered around until the afternoon but didn't see any restaurants open, so they had to go back and cook.

Some local residents have already started experimenting with greenhouse chive cultivation.

It's the Lunar New Year, and the season for the first batch of chives to ripen and hit the market.

When the two of them strolled out of the street, they saw some people pulling carts loaded with chives to sell.

Bai Zhi asked curiously about their purchase location, and an uncle said it was in the square of the village ahead.

"Do you sell these chives retail?" Bai Zhi looked at Gang Ge's first batch of chives and really wanted to buy a bunch to take home.

The woman who helped push the cart replied, "Selling. I happen to have two loose ones. If you want them, I can sell them to you for a little less than the market price."

What's the price?

"Five cents a handful."

Bai Zhi replied, "Okay, I'll take two."

Bai Zhi paid one yuan, which was more expensive than at the market, but she knew that chives were expensive this season, but there was a reason for the high price.

After taking it back, she gave one to Liu Guifang.

Looking at the fresh and tender chives, Liu Guifang felt delighted.

So she suggested, "Xiaobai, let's make dumplings later."

"Sure." I'm just killing time anyway.

Bai Zhi thought that she had eaten at Liu Guifang's house yesterday, and today it should be her turn to come to her house.

So she invited, "Let's make some at my house, we'll eat at my house tonight."

Liu Guifang readily agreed, "Either way, I'll bring the noodles."

Upon hearing Liu Guifang's words, Bai Zhi's lips twitched slightly. "Sister-in-law, my family has face to save. If you're going to be so formal, then don't bother making the meal."

Liu Guifang smiled and said, "Okay, then we'll bring our mouths with us."

Bai Zhi went home and planned to rest for a while before making dumplings.

Lu Ye held her close, reluctant to let her get up, "You really can't stay still."

She laughed and said, "It's Chinese New Year, so it's all about eating and drinking. The more people, the more lively it is."

She also wanted to build good relationships with the families in the residential compound who were on good terms with Lu Ye.

"Sit down for a bit and wait for Sister-in-law Liu Guifang to arrive before we talk."

Lu Ye pulled her to sit down again, his eyes flickered slightly, and he asked the question that had been bothering him since yesterday, "Wife, I have something to ask you."

"What's up?" Bai Zhi asked casually while cracking sunflower seeds.

Lu Ye coughed lightly, "It's about... having children."

Lu Ye was a little awkward at first, but curiosity eventually overcame his awkwardness. "If a woman is perfectly healthy but cannot have children, what would happen to the man?"

In his previous understanding, as long as a man has normal physiological functions, then there must be no problem.

But judging from what Bai Zhi said, it seems that's not the case.
