Chapter 884 Unpleasant
"Yes," the butler replied.
"Call Luo Feng later and tell him to come back for dinner." Yu Peiyun glanced upstairs and said with a displeased expression, "Don't say it was me who told him."
Butler: "Understood."
Yu Peiyun got up and went to sit in the garden outside the villa.
Looking at the vast green space and flowers, Yu Peiyun felt no joy at all.
She thought Qin Mo would marry someone who was well-educated, reasonable, and of equal social standing.
They were from a scholarly family, after all.
I never expected him to be an artist with no background whatsoever.
The butler took in her emotions without saying a word. He picked up his phone and called Qin Luofeng: "Second Young Master, the Eldest Young Master and Miss Lin Tan have registered their marriage. They will be having dinner at home tonight. Would you like to come back?"
Qin Luofeng was taken aback: "Get a marriage certificate?"
Butler: "Yes."
Qin Luofeng: "I understand, I'll be right back."
After the housekeeper said "okay," he waited for the other party to hang up.
He only went upstairs to ask Lin Tan and Qin Mo if they had any dietary restrictions when he calculated that it was almost time.
Qin Mo explained everything to him.
The housekeeper said "okay" before going downstairs.
After watching him leave, Lin Tan said to Qin Mo, "You rest here for a while, I'm going downstairs to chat with your mother."
"No need." Qin Mo didn't want her to suffer. Over the years, his communication with his mother had failed. If Lin Tan went, she would definitely suffer a lot of grievances.
"You are the head of the Qin family," Lin Tan said gently. "I am the head of the family's wife. If I can't even persuade your mother, how can I expect the rest of the Qin family to respect me?"
She lacked Jiang Ruan's confidence and self-assurance.
She also didn't love her mother as much as Jiang Ruan did.
All she could do was endure these emotions and try to reconcile them.
If you can't be an exceptionally capable matriarch, at least be a matriarch who can maintain a good balance within the family.
"I will handle it." Qin Mo insisted on this. "Since I've brought you to be with me, I will handle everything."
Regardless of the mother or the family.
He can handle it all.
As long as he is capable enough and makes enough contributions to the family, they won't say a word.
"I don't want to rely on you alone," Lin Tan said half-jokingly. "If I rely on you, what if you change your mind one day? Then no one will be on my side."
Qin Mo stated his position: "I will not."
Lin Tan reassured him, "Then let me try. If I really don't have the ability, then you can handle it."
Qin Mo wanted to refuse.
But then he remembered Huo Sinian's words.
"Her upbringing has instilled in her a tendency to rely on herself. If, as you say, she takes advantage of you and stays at home as a full-time housewife without a job, she will feel internally conflicted and think she is not good enough for you."
"How is it?" Lin Tan asked.
"Okay," Qin Mo agreed.
Lin Tan immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
She was quite worried that Qin Mo wouldn't agree.
"But let me make this clear beforehand: if anyone wrongs you, you have to tell me." Qin Mo held her hand, his heart filled with worry. "Don't let them think you're easy to bully."
Lin Tan nodded.
After reaching an agreement, Lin Tan went downstairs.
After asking the housekeeper and learning where Madam Yu was, she went to the garden.
When she arrived, Madam Yu was staring blankly at the group photo on her phone.
The photos show her, Qin Muchuan, and Qin Luofeng.
"Thank you," Lin Tan said politely with a smile as she walked over.
"Why are you thanking me?" Yu Peiyun put away her phone, still not in a good mood.
“Without your instructions, the butler wouldn’t have come to ask about dietary restrictions.” Lin Tan understood perfectly; she had learned a great deal during the years she spent by Huo Sinian’s side.
Yu Peiyun said sternly, "You're overthinking it."
Lin Tan sat down next to her: "Then just consider it my wishful thinking."
"You can take those things off the table later." Yu Peiyun remained indifferent. "Our Qin family isn't so poor that we have to accept the same gifts as everyone else."
"You mean the herbal sachet?" Lin Tan asked.
She wasn't surprised that he knew she had prepared that for Madam Jun.
The circles of the four major families are limited, so it's normal to hear rumors.
“That herbal medicine packet is different from the one for Madam Jun; the formula is different,” Lin Tan said. “Qin Mo told me that since his father was sentenced, you have often had trouble sleeping and your nerves have become somewhat weak.”
Yu Peiyun paused.
Lin Tan added, "Actually, Qin Mo is very similar to you."
Yu Peiyun: "You're the first person to say that."
“You two are really alike.” Lin Tan knew exactly what could bring people closer. “You’re both the kind of people who care about each other but are sharp-tongued, typical of people with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.”
"You're overthinking it." Yu Peiyun still had a stern face. "Qin Mo and I have never had any feelings for each other. He grew up with his grandfather since he was a child. I only have Luo Feng as my son."
“If you truly have no feelings for him, then why do you want to find him a wife of equal social standing?” Lin Tan said. “Wouldn’t it be better to find someone who has accomplished nothing and is full of flaws?”
Yu Peiyun: "It concerns the family's reputation."
Lin Tan leaned back in her chair: "True indifference is actually not caring. Just like my parents who raised me, they didn't care what people on the internet said about me, or what people around them thought of me. As long as they could get benefits from me, it didn't matter whether I lived or died, or whether I was doing well or poorly."
Perhaps in Qin Mo's and most people's eyes, Madam Yu's control and interference are not considered affection.
But for someone like her.
If you care about her life or death even if you set aside your own interests, then that's true concern.
Yu Peiyun glanced at her sideways.
“You were very worried when Qin Mo had his accident. You were willing to be seen as a bad mother by outsiders in order to stop me from being with him.” Lin Tan lacked familial love so much that her requirements for family affection were much lower than others. “At that time, I knew that you cared about him.”
If you really don't care at all.
If Qin Mo were to die in an accident, wouldn't Qin Luofeng become the heir?
But Madam Yu probably didn't even have such a thought.
"Since your adoptive parents treated you badly, why don't you expose them online?" Yu Peiyun changed the subject casually.
“They raised me for over twenty years after all,” Lin Tan said. “Although they weren’t good to me, if they hadn’t picked me up from next to the trash can and taken me home, I might have ended up in the hands of human traffickers.”
"What if it's a wealthy family?" Yu Peiyun asked.
"I hadn't thought about it," Lin Tan said truthfully.
Perhaps it was because I suffered too much as a child.
Or perhaps the things I experienced as an adult were too dark.
So much so that when I think about those things, my first reaction is that I was abducted, taken away by human traffickers to be raised and then sold for organs, and so on.
Yu Peiyun was stunned.
She re-examined the person in front of her, looking at her gentle face, and for a moment wondered if she had really gone too far.
"Mom." Lin Tan turned her head.
Yu Peiyun glanced at her sideways.
Realizing he had agreed to her request, his face turned cold again.
"Can I come here for dinner again next time I finish filming?" Lin Tan asked. "Starting tomorrow, I'll be very busy and won't be here most of the time after I join the crew. What do you think..."
"What are you looking at?" Yu Peiyun stood up, her face still stern. "You didn't even tell me you were getting married, why are you telling me at dinner?"
Lin Tan stood up, about to speak.
Yu Peiyun's next words were: "Also, don't I know what kind of temper Qin Mo has? He's the one who worries about me? It's good enough that he doesn't want me to interfere with him."
Although she and Qin Mo rarely lived together.
But Qin Mo is definitely not the kind of person who would worry about her.
Based on the previous conversations, he seemed to want to sever all ties with this family.
"You don't need to say anything nice about him." Yu Peiyun hardened her heart, refusing to fall for Lin Tan's sweet talk. "No matter how much you say, I will not accept you as my daughter-in-law."
The words had barely left his mouth.
Then Qin Mo appeared.
Yu Peiyun met his gaze directly.
At that moment, a hint of panic flashed in her eyes, but it disappeared in an instant and turned into anger.
"I didn't force you to admit it." Qin Mo's expression was cold as he walked over and took Lin Tan's hand. "Let's go."
After saying that, he led Lin Tan towards the garage.
