Chapter 555 Lying
"BOSS." Jiang Yu knocked on the door.
Huo Zhizhou didn't respond, sitting there like a statue.
Jiang Yu knew he had overheard, so he went inside and reported the situation: "Miss Jiang just sent a message saying that the young master is on vacation and will be coming to stay for a few days. Do you want to go and pick him up?"
If he takes it, the young master will definitely realize that something is wrong with the boss.
If he doesn't accept it, it would seem like the boss, as a father, is neglecting his duties.
"I'm not going," Huo Zhizhou refused.
"Well—" Assistant Jiang hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.
"Just say I'm going on a business trip tomorrow," Huo Zhizhou casually came up with a reason. He needed time to think about how he and Ruan Ruan should get along. "I'll be abroad for a long time."
Jiang, Special Assistant: "Okay."
He quickly relayed the message to Jiang Ruan.
After reading the contents, Jiang Ruan looked at Sui Sui and said, "Your dad has to go on a business trip tomorrow for something very important. How about we go see him next time we have a holiday?"
"Is he in Haicheng?" Sui Sui asked.
Jiang Ruan nodded: "Yes."
Sui Sui, acting like a little adult, said, "It's okay, I'll go stay with him for half a day."
Jiang Ruan hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but then stopped.
Sui Sui said, "Don't tell him when I go later."
"Okay." Jiang Ruan let him go.
After making the decision.
Jiang Ruan then asked Mo Mo to take him there.
On the way there, Sui Sui would occasionally glance at her children's watch.
He felt that his father was lying to his mother because he had checked his step count over the past few days and it was only in the single digits.
He couldn't possibly be going on a business trip.
"Uncle Mo Mo, just drop me off about fifty meters from the door later," Sui Sui said in a clear, childlike voice.
Mo Mo: "Okay."
More than an hour later.
Mo Mo took him there.
Seeing him get out of the car and walk in that direction, he followed him out of the car.
“You don’t need to see me off.” Sui Sui said, carrying her little schoolbag, her eyes particularly large. “If I go alone, I’ll be less conspicuous and won’t be spotted by Dad’s bodyguards too soon.”
Mo Mo glanced at the surrounding deployment.
That seems to make sense.
"Go back now." Sui Sui waved to him and walked towards the gate of Huo Zhizhou's residence.
When we arrived at the door.
The bodyguards bowed respectfully to him, saying, "Greetings, young master."
Sui Sui tilted her little head up, looking adorable: "Is Daddy home?"
"Yes, I am," the bodyguard at the door replied.
Sui Sui: "Okay."
Seeing him go inside, the bodyguards didn't say much, assuming that Huo Zhizhou had called him over. They weren't Huo Zhizhou's personal bodyguards, so naturally they didn't know about Huo Zhizhou's recent situation.
Ten minutes later.
Sui Sui was taken to see Jiang Yu.
"Assistant Jiang, the young master has arrived."
Assistant Jiang: "?"
who?
He instinctively looked toward the source of the sound.
When her gaze fell on Sui Sui, who was carrying a small schoolbag, her whole body went on alert, but she maintained a calm and gentle demeanor as she greeted him: "Young Master."
"Where is Daddy?" Sui Sui asked.
"The boss is taking a lunch break." Jiang Yu made an excuse, winked at Lin Bei, and continued chatting with Sui Sui to stall for time. "Have you eaten? Should I have someone make you something?"
"No need, I ate before I came." Sui Sui said politely. "Could you please take me to find my father? I have something to tell him."
"Please sit for a moment, I'll go wake the boss up right away," said Assistant Jiang.
He looked inside.
He was slightly relieved when he saw Lin Bei go upstairs.
“It’s okay, I’ll go wake him myself.” Sui Sui said as she walked inside. “He’s sometimes grumpy when he wakes up. If you wake him before he’s fully awake, he’ll get angry.”
Assistant Jiang smiled politely, but felt a little nervous.
I don't know if Lin Bei has told the BOSS.
Given the young master's condition, he couldn't directly stop him.
"Which room is he in?" Sui Sui asked.
"I'll take you upstairs." Assistant Jiang was still trying to buy some time. "Do you want to leave your backpack upstairs or downstairs?"
Sui Sui: "Upstairs."
Jiang, Special Assistant: "Okay."
Sui Sui: "Mmm."
Assistant Jiang: "Let me get you a glass of juice first. You must be thirsty after coming all this way."
"Uncle Jiang, are you stalling for time?" Sui Sui exposed him without hesitation, her eyes darting around as she looked at him. "Since I arrived, it seems like you don't want me to see Dad."
"How could that be?" Assistant Jiang reacted quickly, without giving himself away. "I was just thinking that the BOSS is still sleeping, and you can have a more pleasant chat with him once he's more awake."
"Is he going on a business trip tomorrow?" Sui Sui asked again.
Jiang's Special Assistant: "Yes."
Sui Sui: "How many days will we be gone?"
"It's not decided yet. It might take three or four days, or maybe four or five days," Assistant Jiang said seriously. "If things don't go very smoothly, it could take ten days to half a month."
"Oh." Sui Sui nodded.
Assistant Jiang led them upstairs in the elevator.
On the way up, he sent Lin Bei a message on his phone: "How's it going?"
Lin Bei: [The boss has gone back to his bedroom. You can take the young master there.]
Jiang's assistant was completely relieved.
A moment later.
He led Sui Sui toward the bedroom.
Before he even reached the door, it opened, and Huo Zhizhou, dressed in casual clothes, walked out. His eyes and brows betrayed his weariness, and he didn't seem to be in good spirits.
"Boss, the young master is here." Assistant Jiang escorted him over.
"Okay." Huo Zhizhou tried his best to sound energetic, but after not eating or drinking for more than two days, he didn't have enough energy. "Go ahead and get busy."
Not long after.
Only he and Sui Sui were in the corridor.
Before he could speak, Sui Sui said first, "If you don't want to see me, just say so. Don't make up such a lame excuse as a business trip, hmph."
"I wouldn't have gotten out of bed if I didn't want to see you." Huo Zhizhou pinched his cheek with a hint of affection.
Sui Sui didn't say a word.
Huo Zhizhou took off his small schoolbag and teased him as always, "You're so eager to see me that you can't even wait a few days?"
Sui Sui: "Liar."
Huo Zhizhou: "Hmm?"
Sui Sui: "You never go on business trips."
"If you're reluctant to leave, you can just say so. There's no need to be so coy." Huo Zhizhou helped him put his schoolbag away, his words perfectly natural. "Call me 'Dad,' and maybe I'll consider canceling my business trip."
Sui Sui glanced at him but didn't say anything.
After putting his schoolbag away, Huo Zhizhou and he stayed in a lounge upstairs.
During the process, Huo Zhizhou would occasionally say something to amuse him.
I'll tease him for a while.
I'll tease him for a bit.
He accepted everything without complaint, never uttering a single word of criticism.
"So well-behaved today?" Huo Zhizhou noticed that he was silent and a little worried about his state. "Like a little lamb."
“You’re the same,” Sui Sui said.
Huo Zhizhou: "?"
Looking at his slightly haggard face, Sui Sui felt a little sad: "Didn't you look in the mirror before you saw me?"
"What's wrong?"
"You're just like those sick people on TV right now."
He didn't know why his father had become like this. Was it work pressure, relationship problems, or something he had said that upset him?
He looks really bad right now.
Even though he tried to maintain a normal appearance, it was still obvious at a glance.
