Chapter 477 Huo Sinian and Lin Tan Have a Falling Out
Without waiting for Huo Cheng's reaction, he stood up and walked out of the study.
Huo Cheng was seething with anger.
As he watched him leave with Jiang Yu and the others, he took out his phone and called Huo Sinian: "He left with that person; we couldn't stop him."
"Hmm." Huo Sinian's expression was indifferent.
"What do we do now?" Huo Cheng felt uneasy. Compared to their last time together, Huo Zhizhou was noticeably more distant from him this time.
Huo Sinian said unhurriedly, "Let him be."
Huo Cheng panicked: "What if those people talk nonsense in front of him!"
Those men were his trusted confidants; they knew countless things, and it was much easier for them to tell the truth than to fabricate stories.
“He doesn’t trust anyone now,” Huo Sinian thought, recalling their previous conversation. “There’s no need to worry too much.”
If Huo Zhizhou hadn't fallen in love with Jiang Ruan at first sight, the outcome would indeed have been as he said, and no one would have believed it. But he just happened to fall in love with Jiang Ruan again.
He believed her.
An unconditional and unreserved letter.
This is something Huo Sinian could never have foreseen.
"Then why did you ask me to come over just now?" Huo Cheng felt like he had been completely fooled.
"To perfect your image as a loving father," Huo Sinian said casually, "as a father who cares for his son, you can't help but be anxious when you find out that your son is going to contact a swindler."
Huo Cheng frowned.
Upon closer reflection, I realized that there was indeed some truth to it.
"You just need to remind him from time to time; I've taken care of everything else." Huo Sinian wasn't unprepared.
However, his preparations were useless against Huo Zhizhou, who trusted Jiang Ruan. No matter how convincingly he made Jiang Yu and the others betray him, he would be defeated by Jiang Ruan's words, "They are worthy of your trust."
But Huo Sinian didn't know that.
I've never thought about it in that direction.
He was currently on his way to Lin Tan's location; there were some scores he hadn't settled with her yet.
Half an hour later.
Huo Sinian arrived at his other residence.
Upon entering, one sees Lin Tan under heavy guard by bodyguards.
"Everyone out," Huo Sinian ordered, his tone now carrying a calm before the storm.
The bodyguards voluntarily fled.
Soon, only he and Lin Tan remained in the room.
Looking at Lin Tan, who sat aloof and indifferent on the sofa, he naturally sat down opposite her, exuding an air of refinement: "Not even pretending anymore?"
"Didn't you already know?" Lin Tan stopped pretending.
"Do you remember what I told you before?" Huo Sinian reached out and pinched her chin, his rough thumb pad rubbing against her skin, gentle yet dangerous.
Lin Tan froze.
Huo Sinian gently repeated, "Don't lie to me, or I'll break your legs and lock you in this house, so you'll never be able to leave this house again."
These words were like knives piercing Lin Tan's heart, filling her with fear and chills.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t be in such a hurry,” Huo Sinian said calmly, but it was precisely this tone that broke people’s defenses the most. “If you wait until you are pregnant before planning these things, maybe I will give you a break for the sake of the child.”
"You won't." Lin Tan's beautiful fox-like eyes were full of certainty.
Huo Sinian: "How do you know I can't?"
Lin Tan: "Because you are Huo Sinian."
Huo Sinian smiled.
Lin Tan felt increasingly disheartened.
She knew Huo Sinian; the calmer he appeared, the more insane he was.
“You know me quite well,” he said, his eyes behind his glasses gentle. “Indeed, if you had done that, an unborn child would have lost his life for you.”
Lin Tan looked at him in disbelief.
It was as if no one expected him to actually do it.
Huo Sinian remained unmoved.
For him.
If the child was not born of Lin Tan's own free will, then there is no reason for the child to exist.
Rather than being born into the misery he and Lin Tan endured, it would have been better if he had never come into this world.
An unhappy childhood is unnecessary.
"Why did you stop acting?" Huo Sinian stared at her face, his usual docile demeanor gone.
Lin Tan, in a fit of despair, said, "I'm tired."
Huo Sinian countered, "Are you tired, or has Qin Mo's appearance made you feel like you have someone to rely on?"
Lin Tan's hands tightened little by little.
Qin Mo's appearance was indeed a turning point.
But she really didn't want to act anymore.
After years of playing along, I'm tired of it all.
"I shouldn't have been soft-hearted towards you." Huo Sinian's eyes behind his glasses were somewhat deep, yet his movements were so gentle. "You should have been a secret lover for the rest of your life."
“Basement, room,” Huo Sinian said. “Choose one.”
Lin Tan: "What?"
Huo Sinian: "Choose a place where you can spend the rest of your life."
This moment.
Lin Tan knew he was serious.
He really intended to lock her up.
“I warned you.” Huo Sinian rubbed his phone, his gaze carrying a hint of pressure. “Don’t lie to me. Since you didn’t listen, you can’t blame me.”
"You're breaking the law." Lin Tan's mind raced, searching for a solution.
"You can choose," Huo Sinian said calmly, "where is it illegal?"
Lin Tan's breath hitched.
Huo Sinian tapped a few times on his phone and showed her a page: "If you don't choose, I'll have someone post these photos and videos online right now so your sister, family, and friends can all see them."
Lin Tan looked over and immediately saw those explicit photos.
Only her face was visible on the screen; Huo Sinian's entire body had been altered.
"And your sister," Huo Sinian said unhurriedly, "Do you really think that with Qin Mo protecting her, I can't do anything to her?"
"Why?" Lin Tan's voice trembled slightly; she didn't understand.
Huo Sinian: "What? Why?"
Lin Tan: "Why can't you let me go? I haven't offended you."
"You became my fiancée and still wanted to run off with someone else; you promised to stay by my side, but it was just a scam you orchestrated." Huo Sinian recounted each of these accusations. "And you call that not offending me?"
Lin Tan wanted to refute.
But she did lie to him in order to gain freedom and leave.
“Choose,” Huo Sinian said.
Lin Tan's heart broke into a thin line.
She just looked at him, the words Jiang Ruan had once told her flashing through her mind, and she didn't know where she got the courage, but she said two words: "I won't choose."
Huo Sinian looked up, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.
“If you want to post it, then post it. I don’t only have these two options.” Lin Tan suddenly understood.
Perhaps it was because they had been threatened too many times.
Or perhaps it was Jiang Ruan's words and Qin Mo's appearance that influenced her.
She suddenly didn't want to be forced into it anymore.
Huo Sinian suddenly smiled: "Then tell me, what other path do you have?"
"Dead end." Lin Tan met his gaze and said, word by word.
Her life was already unhappy. She had finally escaped her suffocating family, only to be tricked and lured here by Huo Sinian after graduating from university. It seemed there was no point in continuing her messy life.
As for Qin Mo...
All she could say was thank you.
“What a dead end.” Huo Sinian pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, his thin lips repeating the words casually, but his eyes held an unprecedented depth of darkness.
"Use whatever means you want to deal with me," Lin Tan said, truly resigned to his fate. "I don't care."
