Chapter 411 Meeting Lin Tan

Lin Tan didn't say much and went to the filming location.

She found a moment to text Jiang Ruan about half an hour later, asking if she had arrived in Jingzhou.

Jiang Ruan was eating when she saw the message. As she looked at the content in parentheses at the end of the message, her brows furrowed involuntarily.

—Do not send WeChat messages, contact via text message.

Although puzzled, I replied, "Well, I'm planning to go back now. What did you need me for?"

Lin Tan was about to catch a glimpse of her assistant walking towards her out of the corner of her eye, but in the end, she could only hastily type a few words: "It's nothing, I'll treat you to dinner next time you come to Jingzhou."

She deleted all the messages after sending them.

Her assistant happened to walk up to her at that moment.

"Sister Lin Tan," Sisi said naturally, "you can go over to get your makeup done in half an hour."

Lin Tan said "okay".

She couldn't help but glance at her phone screen, praying that Jiang Ruan wouldn't reply to her text.

Although Sisi had signaled to her with her eyes in the car that there was surveillance, she was ultimately someone Huo Sinian had sent to her side, and she wasn't sure if Sisi would report all the details to him without knowing the situation.

Jiang Ruan looked at her message and fell into confusion.

"What's wrong?" Tang Bai noticed her unusual expression during his meal and asked, "What happened?"

"Under what circumstances would you use text messages instead of WeChat to chat?" Jiang Ruan felt that Lin Tan's message was strange. If she wanted to meet her for a meal, she could simply call or send a WeChat message.

Tang Bai replied: "Reply N to unsubscribe via SMS?"

Mo Mo's computer-generated expression: "I've been blocked."

Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.

She quickly checked her friendship with Lin Tan, and everything was normal.

"Just ask the person who sent the text message if you want to know." Tang Bai was straightforward and never hesitated over these things.

Jiang Ruan was caught in a dilemma.

The butler, sensing something was amiss, immediately stepped forward. He'd been bored to death these past few months with nothing to do: "Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Do you know where Lin Tan is?" Jiang Ruan asked casually.

"They were filming here yesterday, and they should be in Jiangcheng today," the butler reported, based on his gossip and other information. "If you want to know their exact location, I'll go check it out right now."

"This is troublesome." Jiang Ruan relaxed a little.

She didn't know what Lin Tan wanted to do with her, but based on their previous conversations, she knew that Lin Tan was being exploited by Huo Sinian.

Could it be that something went wrong when I contacted her this time?

"Found it." The butler had the result in no time. "They're filming in Nanwan, Jiangcheng, and will probably stay there for about a week."

"It's about a two-hour drive from here," Tang Bai said, looking at the map on his phone. "We can still make it to lunch."

“Okay, let’s go take a look.” Jiang Ruan made her decision.

Seeing that they were about to leave, the butler hesitated before asking, "Are you coming back for dinner tonight?"

"I probably won't be coming back," Jiang Ruan replied, glancing at Mo Mo and Tang Bai. "I won't be coming for a long time. I'll support you if you have any ideas."

Everyone understood what she meant, but no one spoke.

Half an hour later.

Jiang Ruan, Tang Bai, and Mo Mo set off for Jiangcheng.

When she arrived, she was stopped by the crew members, who told her that visiting the set was not allowed.

"Could you please help me find Lin Tan?" Jiang Ruan didn't insist, respecting other people's work. "I need to talk to her about something."

The staff member refused bluntly: "You can call her."

Jiang Ruan looked at her phone.

She did want to make a phone call.

But Lin Tan contacted her via text message, and she was afraid that a phone call would cause her trouble.

"Miss, please rest for a while." Tang Bai was dressed in light-colored casual clothes, and his neat short hair made him look sunny and handsome. "I'll talk to him."

"You... what do you want to do?" The staff member swallowed subconsciously when he saw him roll up his sleeves. "This is a film set. If you cause trouble, I can call the police and have you arrested."

"Why call the police?" Tang Bai put his arm around his shoulder and pulled him aside, slipping some RMB into his hand. "I just want to chat with you."

Watching them walk further and further away, Jiang Ruan asked Mo Mo curiously, "What is he going to talk to about?"

Mo Mo: "Most likely, he'll bribe them."

Jiang Ruan: "??"

In their sight.

Tang Bai talked with the staff member for about five minutes, and then the staff member jogged inside.

"All done." Tang Bai walked over with a smile. "We can go in once he comes out."

He proved he wasn't exaggerating.

A moment later, the staff member came running back out, his attitude completely changed: "Please come in, three of you. Teacher Lin Tan is currently filming, so you may have to wait a while."

"Thank you," Jiang Ruan said politely.

The staff led them inside.

This was Jiang Ruan's first time on set. She found the surrounding environment and the many cameras quite novel. She walked a little further before she saw Lin Tan acting opposite someone.

"This way, please, you three." The staff member quickly said, leading them to a temporary room. "After Ms. Lin Tan finishes her performance, the director will have her come to find you."

Jiang Ruan: "???"

Why is even the director showing up?

The staff member didn't linger there: "I'll stay outside. Call me anytime if you need anything."

Jiang Ruan nodded, and only after the person left did she look at the "culprit" of the matter: "What did you say to him? Why did you suddenly become so polite?"

"Tell him your identity." Tang Bai understood the intricacies of the situation. "Knowing that you don't like attracting too much attention, I specifically told him not to publicize it or give you an excessive welcome."

"He believed it?" Jiang Ruan realized after saying that she had asked a pointless question.

Everyone's inside.

And so they believed it.

"Isn't he afraid I'm an imposter?" Jiang Ruan was a little confused.

"I must have asked around before letting you in," Tang Bai said casually, sitting there. "After all, the director of this production is a big name, so he must have some connections."

Jiang Ruan rubbed her forehead.

I never expected things to turn out this way.

Just as she was feeling conflicted, there was a knock on the door, and a man who looked to be in his forties or fifties with a friendly appearance walked in. When he saw her, he immediately greeted her: "You must be Old Master Qin's granddaughter, Jiang Ruan."

"Hello." Jiang Ruan stood up and greeted the person.

Such meetings inevitably involve exchanging a few pleasantries.

Jiang Ruan responded calmly.

After chatting for about five minutes, the director finally got down to business: "I heard you're here to see Lin Tan."

"Yes," Jiang Ruan said with a faint smile, adding a touch of politeness to her words, "I apologize for disturbing you with my visit."

"You're being too polite." The director was quite gentle with her, after all, he had confirmed that she was indeed a descendant of the Qin and Li families. "It just so happens that Lin Tan finished filming her scenes this morning, so I called you in."

Jiang Ruan nodded slightly: "Thank you for your help."

Lin Tan came in shortly afterward.

Knowing they had something to say, the director didn't linger: "You two keep talking, I won't bother you any longer."
