Chapter 344: Huo Zhizhou gains favor
Jiang Ruan's heart tightened.
Seeing her worry, Old Master Qin comforted her, "Don't worry, it's alright."
"Please walk more slowly when you go out in the future," Jiang Ruan said after much consideration. "See a doctor promptly if you feel unwell."
"Alright, alright." Old Master Qin was very happy that Jiang Ruan cared about him. "I'll listen to Ruan Ruan."
Jiang Ruan helped him to the living room.
Huo Zhizhou stayed by her side the whole time.
After serving the old man tea and some snacks, Jiang Ruan spoke her first words to Huo Zhizhou: "Sui Sui went upstairs to get something, and she'll come down later to hang up the little lanterns with Mo Mo."
Huo Zhizhou: "Mm."
Seeing that he hadn't left yet, Jiang Ruan's eyes showed a hint of suspicion.
"And you?" Huo Zhizhou asked.
"What?" Jiang Ruan didn't react for a moment.
"What are you going to do later?" Huo Zhizhou glanced around and, not seeing any servants, asked unhurriedly, "Is there anything I can do for you?"
Jiang Ruan really wanted to say no.
If it weren't for the fact that he came with Mr. Qin, she would have already kicked him out.
"Come to the kitchen if you're not busy." Jiang An suddenly appeared. She didn't have as many concerns as Jiang Ruan. In her opinion, Huo Zhizhou would be eating here later anyway, so she might as well make the most of his labor.
Huo Zhizhou responded, "Okay."
As he headed towards the kitchen, Sui Sui came downstairs with her various little things.
Upon seeing Huo Zhizhou out of the corner of her eye, she didn't even greet him before taking off running outside on her short legs, her soft voice tinged with excitement: "Uncle Tang Bai, please help me hang this on the tree."
Tang Bai: "Okay."
Sui Sui's voice was crisp and clear: "And this too."
Tang Bai agreed to everything he said: "Okay."
In a short time.
The entire villa was filled with laughter and joy.
Tang Bai and Mo Mo were busy with chores and playing with Sui Sui, making the child giggle.
Jiang An and Huo Zhizhou were busy preparing the New Year's Eve dinner in the kitchen. Looking at the skilled cooks and prepare the food, a hint of surprise flashed in Jiang An's eyes.
She was unaware that Huo Zhizhou could cook. She had spent some time with them before her accident, but it was always the servants who cooked, and she had never heard of him cooking.
"Mom, you go out and rest for a while." Huo Zhizhou finished preparing the dishes. "I can take care of things here."
“It’s better to call her Aunt Jiang,” Jiang An corrected him. “Your marriage with Ruan Ruan is over, so it’s not appropriate for you to call her Mom anymore.”
"I'm calling you that not because of Ruanruan," Huo Zhizhou said slowly while busy, "but because you've been so good to me. I never knew how my mother felt until I met you."
For him, the words "father" and "mother" were unfamiliar.
They were the ones who drove him to despair, the ones who pushed him into the fire time and time again, and the ones who hurt his friends.
Until he met Jiang Ruan, he saw his mother's care and concern for her daughter, and felt her care for him after marriage, even though that period was very short, so short that she had an accident before they spent much time together.
Jiang An paused.
Huo Zhizhou's sharply defined features were cold and indifferent: "If you don't like it, you don't have to respond to me, but out of respect, I have to address you this way."
“I left you with Ruan Ruan, and when I woke up I broke you two up…” Jiang An tried to say it from a different angle.
“These are all signs that you love Ruan Ruan.” Huo Zhizhou knew what was in his best interest and what to say at this time. “If I were you, I would have been more direct.”
Jiang An was speechless.
She is the type who responds better to gentle persuasion than force.
If Huo Zhizhou had Li Zhishen's bad temper, no matter how eloquently he spoke, she would have simply told him to get lost. But Huo Zhizhou was too sincere. One cannot hit a smiling face, nor can one speak frankly. Let him call her whatever he wants; she can simply ignore it.
"Can you handle all of this?" Jiang An glanced at the ingredients in front of him.
Huo Zhizhou: "Yes."
"Okay." Jiang An's expression was rather calm. "I'll leave these to you and go take care of other things."
Huo Zhizhou: "Okay."
Jiang Ruan never expected that Huo Zhizhou would gain favor with her mother in less than ten minutes. After chatting with Grandpa Qin, she went to the garden outside. She had just said a few words to Mo Mo and the others when her phone rang.
Seeing that it was Li Zhishen calling, she answered: "Uncle Li."
"Happy Lunar New Year's Eve, Ruanruan." Li Zhi's voice was low and slow. "Where's your mother? I called her just now but she didn't answer."
Jiang Ruan replied, "She's in the kitchen, and her phone is charging in the study."
Li Zhishen coughed lightly: "Could you please give her the phone? I have something I want to tell her."
Jiang Ruan said "okay".
They were about to move forward.
Sui Sui suddenly called out, "Mommy!"
Jiang Ruan paused in her steps: "What's wrong?"
"Are we really having Daddy's cooking tonight?" Sui Sui's voice was crisp and clear, with a strong penetrating quality. "He hasn't cooked for several months, but his cooking skills are still as good as before."
Li Zhishen on the other end of the phone: "???"
Huo Zhizhou?
Jiang Ruan gently rubbed his little head: "You ate quite well even though I didn't cook for the past three months?"
He was puzzled. Sui Sui wasn't picky about food, and he knew Huo Zhizhou's level all too well, so why did he suddenly say something like that?
"Ruan Ruan," Li Zhishen called to her.
"I'll give the phone to Mom right now." Jiang Ruan gently pinched Sui Sui's cheek and drove away.
Li Zhishen's emotions were mixed: "Is Huo Zhizhou with you?"
Jiang Ruan paused for a moment, then answered truthfully, "He brought Mr. Qin over."
Did Old Master Qin go too?
“I suddenly have something to take care of here,” he said quickly, his calm tone carrying a hint of emotion. “I’ll call your mother again once she’s done with her business.”
The father who made a mistake and the son-in-law who ruined his daughter are both there, but his partner, who should have smoothly taken over, is not. What kind of talk is that?
Jiang Ruan: "?"
Jiang Ruan was about to say something when the other end of the line quickly hung up.
So much so that halfway through, she didn't know whether to tell her mother about it or continue decorating with Mo Mo and the others.
Half an hour later.
Li Zhishen has arrived.
He was accompanied by several bodyguards.
"Move all of this inside." After instructing them, Li Zhishen walked inside and saw Ruan Ruan busy in the garden. He went over to her and asked, "Where is your mother now?"
Jiang Ruan instinctively replied, "The kitchen."
Li Zhishen strode inside.
Jiang Ruan's head was full of question marks. What was going on?
After walking through the garden to the living room, Li Zhishen first greeted Old Master Qin, and then went straight to the kitchen.
Two minutes later.
He was kicked out.
Old Master Qin and he locked eyes. The former had already anticipated this outcome, while the latter looked somewhat embarrassed.
"Come over and have a chat?" Old Master Qin spoke up first.
Li Zhishen has passed away.
Grandpa Qin chatted with him about everyday things: "It seems that An'an was right not to choose you."
Li Zhishen: "?"
Grandpa Qin: "It's useless if you can't even cook."
Li Zhishen: "Who says I can't?"
"If you knew even a little bit, you wouldn't have been kicked out just now?" Old Master Qin's question hit the nail on the head.
