Chapter 303 I Don't Like Her
Two minutes later.
Qin Jiangye ended his conversation with Jiang Ruan, and a rare look of contemplation appeared on his usually calm face.
Secretary Qin proactively offered to help her boss solve his problems: "What's wrong?"
"Why didn't I think to record it with my phone when I was eavesdropping on my uncle's conversation?" Qin Jiangye stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Since we were going to be discovered anyway, wouldn't recording it with my phone be even more irrefutable evidence?"
Secretary Qin: "..."
Qin Jiangye: "You didn't expect this either, did you?"
Secretary Qin kindly reminded you, "When you were eavesdropping, you didn't expect to be discovered."
Qin Jiangye thought about it carefully: "That makes sense."
Secretary Qin continued working at his desk, having grown accustomed to his intermittent bouts of intellectual lapses.
After Jiang Ruan ended the call, she was thinking about Jiang An's accident. Qin Jiangye couldn't remember the conversation, which meant he might have misunderstood something while eavesdropping. Qin Mo seemed to be quite upright.
With that in mind, she decided to investigate further after returning to Haicheng.
Before getting busy, she sent Lin Tan a message: "Have you arrived yet?"
Lin Tan replied almost instantly: "Just arrived."
She looked at the villa in front of her, where she had lived for three years, took a deep breath, composed herself, and walked inside.
What she didn't know was that Huo Sinian hadn't gone upstairs to rest since meeting with Huo Zhizhou last night. He had been sitting on the sofa waiting for her, and he had turned his phone volume up to the maximum.
Upon seeing her return, Huo Sinian put his phone on silent.
"You still know to come back." His voice was low and menacing, and his dark eyes behind his glasses were slightly bloodshot from not having slept all night.
Lin Tan stood in front of him, thinking about how to get down to business.
Huo Sinian glanced at her dark coat, then reached out and pulled her into his arms, his large hands taking off her coat: "Did I tell you before that you forgot?"
"These are Jiang Ruan's clothes." Lin Tan reached out to stop her.
"I don't want to repeat myself." Huo Sinian's tone was calm, but it carried an invisible chill. "Go upstairs and change your clothes."
Lin Tan suppressed her emotions: "Okay."
She didn't argue with him. In this atmosphere, Huo Sinian wouldn't listen to anything she said, so she might as well change into a light-colored outfit that he liked and talk to him slowly.
Lin Tan came down again ten minutes later.
Looking at her off-white knit sweater, Huo Sinian felt much less chilly.
"Jiang Ruan said you fainted last night from exhaustion." He pulled her to sit beside him, playing with her slender, fair fingers. "What happened?"
Lin Tan pursed her lips and remained silent.
Huo Sinian's hand slipped under the hem of her cardigan, his rough fingers sending shivers down her spine as they touched her delicate skin: "Not going to talk?"
"I want to talk to you," Lin Tan said, mustering her courage.
Even though she had mentally prepared herself on the way, she still didn't dare to be too aggressive when the man held her in his arms.
"Lin Tan, don't say anything that will upset me." Huo Sinian gently pinched her waist, his thin lips parted slightly, "I didn't ask you why you pretended to faint and didn't reply to my messages, so don't make a fool of yourself here."
Lin Tan's body stiffened.
He knew...
"You want to talk to me because Jiang Ruan said something that made you feel like you're capable again?" Huo Sinian exposed all her thoughts without hesitation.
He knew the personality of the person he had raised for three years.
He wanted to talk to him as soon as he got back from staying out overnight, and he couldn't think of any other reason besides Jiang Ruan.
Lin Tan felt a chill run down her spine: "How did you know I was faking fainting?"
"I don't know what your constitution is like?" Huo Sinian said calmly, his bespectacled face giving him a somewhat sleazy air as he spoke. "Someone who can stay awake so many times a night, would faint from exhaustion?"
A hint of unease flashed across Lin Tan's face, but a chill ran through her heart.
How could she possibly defeat Huo Sinian, who was like this?
"Then why didn't you expose it?"
"If you want to play, I'll play with you." Huo Sinian's hands wandered all over her body. "It'll also help you understand some things, so you won't have any wild ideas popping up from time to time."
In fact.
Huo Sinian only guessed this morning that Lin Tan had pretended to faint.
Instead of calling him to explain the situation, she came back to talk to him, which clearly indicated that there was a problem. Coupled with the bloodshot eyes that she couldn't hide, he almost instantly guessed that she hadn't slept last night.
The reason she didn't sleep was most likely because Jiang Ruan had said something to her that made her think about it all night.
"Do you want to end our relationship?" Huo Sinian asked her.
Lin Tan came into his line of sight and remained silent for a while before answering, "Yes."
“Jiang Ruan is Jiang Ruan, and Lin Tan is Lin Tan.” Huo Sinian took out his hand and squeezed her fingers. “You are not a child from a rich family. You don’t have parents who have loved you since you were a child, and you don’t have rich second-generation friends to back you up. No matter what she tells you, her opinion is not suitable for you.”
Lin Tan pursed her lips and remained silent.
My heart sank deeper and deeper into the abyss.
"Jiang Ruan leaving Huo Zhizhou is like letting the young lady experience life," Huo Sinian's gentle voice continued, "You leaving me is like falling from darkness into an even deeper abyss."
"I understand." Lin Tan knew he was warning her not to have any unrealistic fantasies.
Let's let it go this time.
He'll teach her a lesson if there's a next time.
"Don't associate with Jiang Ruan anymore." Huo Sinian picked her up and carried her upstairs. After placing her on the bed, he lowered his voice and said, "I don't like her."
Lin Tan's red lips pressed into a thin line, her heart sinking little by little.
Huo Sinian's hand moved down her waist, and his warm breath brushed against her ear: "Did you hear that?"
Lin Tan gave him a formulaic reply: "I heard you."
"Good girl." Huo Sinian lowered his eyes and kissed her ear, his light breath enveloping her whole body, making her stiff and afraid to move.
The next moment.
Huo Sinian's actions became increasingly reckless and unrestrained.
Lin Tan reached out and pushed him away, her eyes pleading, "No, I don't want to today."
"You have to accept the punishment for your mistakes. Don't think you can just leave and listen to me next time." Huo Sinian's movements were gentle yet forceful as he pressed her hands together on top of her head.
Lin Tan wanted to move, but couldn't muster any strength at all.
At that moment, she suddenly realized that it was too difficult to escape Huo Sinian. Even when he wasn't angry, she was subconsciously afraid of him. If he lost his temper, she didn't dare to think about the consequences.
Buzzing.
Huo Sinian's phone rang.
He ignored her, his thin lips moving from her earlobe to her neck, leaving every inch of her skin imbued with his scent.
"You answer the phone first, just in case it's something important." Lin Tan just wanted to end this intimate moment.
Huo Sinian didn't want to get involved.
But the urgent ringing was really annoying.
He picked up his phone to hang up, but frowned when he saw the contact information. He then pulled away from Lin Tan to answer the call.
"Is this Brother Si Nian?" A clear and pleasant female voice came from the other end of the line. "I'm Xiao Ya. I'm back in China. When can we meet and talk?"
Huo Sinian paused.
If it weren't for this phone call, he would have almost forgotten about his parents' matchmaking efforts for him to marry the second young lady of the Wen family.
