Chapter 260 Going to the Qin Family

Jiang Ruan: [Yes.]

Qin Mo tapped on the surface with his fingertips: [I'll have Qin Jiangye pick you up at 3:30 PM.]

Jiang Ruan replied, "Okay."

She wondered why he had asked her to have less contact with Qin Jiangye, since he had told her to avoid him.

Seeing that she had agreed, Qin Mo told his grandfather about it. After finishing everything, he called Secretary Wen and asked, "How's the investigation going?"

"The person you asked me to investigate is in Jingzhou," Secretary Wen said, revealing everything he knew. "He's connected to Huo Sinian of the Huo family."

Qin Mo frowned.

Huo Sinian?

How did she get involved with Huo Sinian?

"What's the relationship?"

"It's not very clear yet." Secretary Wen realized that this person might have special feelings for him, so he tried to be as tactful as possible. "All we know is that she lives in a property under Huo Sinian's name, and no one else knows about this."

Qin Mofei's thin lips were pressed into a straight line, and his aura was like that of the Arctic.

After a while.

He then said a few words without any emotion: "I understand."

Secretary Wen asked routinely, "Should we continue the investigation?"

Qin Mo: "No need."

Secretary Wen: "Okay."

The conversation ended there.

Qin Mo's mood did not calm down after the phone call ended; instead, it was stirred up by his own speculations.

3 PM.

Jiang Ruan was now fully awake.

After having lunch, Su Zhu and Ye Yanzhi parted ways, while Su Zhu was given instructions by her mother about what to do after arriving at the Qin family home.

“You were invited to the Qin family by Old Master Qin,” Jiang An told her as best he could. “No matter how polite or nice they are to you on the surface, don’t open your heart to them.”

"I know." Jiang Ruan harbored resentment towards the Qin family.

Jiang An looked at her and said, "There's something you might not be able to accept, but I hope you'll consider it."

Jiang Ruan asked, "What?"

“If Grandpa Qin introduces Qin Muchuan and his brothers to you, just call them by the names he uses.” Jiang An didn’t seem to care much about these things. “Use those names to others as well.”

"Uncle?" Jiang Ruan asked in confusion.

Jiang An nodded: "Mm."

Jiang Ruan pursed her lips, somewhat hesitant.

Jiang An patted her shoulder: "If you really don't want to, I won't force you. But this way, we can antagonize Qin Muchuan to the greatest extent possible, and also let the outside world know that Old Master Qin's granddaughter has really appeared."

Discussions about the banquet have gradually decreased over the past month.

New public opinion is needed to protect the soft and comprehensive.

"Okay," Jiang Ruan agreed.

"Don't force yourself if you really can't say it." Jiang An didn't pressure her; he only offered advice on many things.

Jiang Ruan nodded.

The two chatted about other things, and around 3:30, Mo Mo told her that a car was parked at the door, saying it was looking for her.

Jiang Ruan said goodbye to Jiang An, grabbed her bag, and went out. She had only taken two steps when she saw Qin Mo, dressed in an expensive suit, get out of the car. He nodded slightly to her and then looked past her toward Jiang An at the door.

He parted his thin lips slightly, speaking politely and courteously: "Aunt."

Jiang An hummed in agreement.

"Grandpa asked me to invite you home for a simple meal," Qin Mo conveyed the old man's message.

"You can just take Ruan Ruan with you." Jiang An refused directly, without even giving a reason, "I'm not interested."

Qin Mo didn't say much.

He had guessed the outcome before he even arrived.

His face remained expressionless as always, cold as a person with a blank expression: "Then we'll be leaving now. The Qin family will always be your home. You can come back anytime you want."

Jiang An didn't respond.

Qin Mo nodded slightly, then turned and got into the car with Jiang Ruan.

Jiang Ruan didn't ask why it was him and not Qin Jiangye who came; she just sat silently in the car.

As the car slowly started moving, she noticed that Qin Mo glanced at her face for a moment, then looked away in less than a second.

Time passed by, bit by bit.

The car had traveled halfway.

When Qin Mo looked at her for the fourth time, she took the initiative to look at him and asked, "Is there something you need?"

Qin Mo: "It's nothing."

Jiang Ruan: "Oh."

Qin Mo: "Mm."

Jiang Ruan shifted her gaze to the window, her heart unusually calm.

After a while.

Qin Mo finally spoke: "Jiang Ruan."

"Tell me what's on your mind." Jiang Ruan's gaze was still fixed outside, but she couldn't help but wonder if he was going to persuade her to give up her shares again.

"What kind of person is Huo Sinian?" Qin Mo asked, but his tone was still cold. "When you were in the Huo family, did you have much contact with him?"

Jiang Ruan turned her gaze away from the window: "Huo Sinian?"

Qin Mo's eyes were unfathomable: "Mm."

“Not many. Huo Zhizhou told me he wasn’t a good person and advised me to avoid him.” Jiang Ruan didn’t hide anything; it wasn’t a secret. “I haven’t seen him more than a few times in the past few years.”

If it weren't for the fact that we've seen each other more often in the past few months, I could count the number of times we've met on one hand in the previous five years.

Qin Mo's aura was somewhat cool.

Jiang Ruan vaguely sensed that he might be involved with Huo Sinian in something, but she didn't ask any further questions. She wasn't interested in other people's secrets.

"Is he married?" Qin Mo asked again.

Jiang Ruan: "No."

Qin Mo: "Where's your girlfriend?"

Jiang Ruan's suspicious gaze fell on him.

Given Qin Mo's personality, it's unlikely he would try to find out Huo Group's secrets through her. Asking her such private matters means he's either interested in Huo Sinian or in the people around him.

Qin Mo couldn't possibly be gay, so it could only be the sister-in-law Huo Zhizhou mentioned.

"You want to ask about Lin Tan?" Jiang Ruan asked directly.

Qin Mo paused, momentarily dazed upon hearing the name.

After a long while, he finally answered, "Yes."

“I don’t know the specifics of her relationship with Huo Sinian.” Jiang Ruan didn’t have the habit of embellishing things, nor did she tell Huo Zhizhou about his sister-in-law. “After my mother woke up, he brought her to visit, only saying that she was a close friend.”

"Thank you." Qin Mo's voice was somewhat low.

Jiang Ruan hummed in agreement but didn't say anything more.

The two barely spoke to each other the rest of the way.

Only after the car entered the gate of the Qin family's old mansion did Qin Mo turn to look at Jiang Ruan and tell her, "No matter what they say at the dinner table later, just pretend you didn't hear it."

A hint of doubt flashed in Jiang Ruan's eyes.

I don't understand why he suddenly said these things to her.

"As a thank you for what happened earlier." Qin Mo never liked owing favors.

"Thank you." Jiang Ruan also disliked owing favors to others.

As the car drove into the garage of the old house, it stopped and saw Old Master Qin and the old butler waiting there. When Jiang Ruan got out of the car, her eyes met theirs.

"Grandpa, butler grandpa." Qin Mo got out of the car.

"Mr. Qin," Jiang Ruan greeted, "Grandpa Butler."

Qin Mo glanced at her subconsciously.

Old butler: "?!"

Old Master Qin: "???"

The old butler's eyes lit up: "What did you just call me?"

Jiang Ruan was a little unsure, but seeing that they didn't seem angry, she repeated, "Grandpa Butler."

"Oh! Ruanruan, good." The old butler, abandoning his usual composure, led her towards the main hall as if she were his own child. "Are you hungry? There are some snacks and fruits prepared in the main hall. Let Grandpa Butler take you to have some."

Jiang Ruan glanced at Old Master Qin subconsciously.

Qin Mo took the initiative to speak: "You go with Grandpa Butler first, I need to talk to Grandpa about something."

Jiang Ruan: "Okay."

Only after watching her walk further and further away under the old housekeeper did Old Master Qin finally show his emotions.

His eyes were still fixed on the direction they had left in, and he said with a hint of complaint, "The old man is already being called 'Grandpa' by Ruan Ruan, but I, the real maternal grandfather, have never been called that before."
