Chapter 167 Jiang Ruan's Suspicion
"Wait a minute," Sui Sui called out to him.
Huo Zhizhou didn't hang up; he seemed much more relaxed now that he was healthy: "We'll talk about it when I get back tomorrow. Your mom and I are taking an early morning flight."
After saying that, he hung up without waiting for the other party's reaction.
He didn't knock on Jiang Ruan's door immediately, but looked at his phone and waited for a minute. When he didn't see Sui Sui send a message after a minute, he knew that she had already believed him.
He put his phone away and went to the room where Jiang Ruan was.
Two knocks.
The ginger was not opened.
Standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the buildings and passing vehicles below, she felt an indescribable sense of oppression and uncertainty about the future.
With a click, Huo Zhizhou pushed the door open and entered, asking her in a deep voice, "Why didn't you open the door?"
"Whether you open the door or not, you can still come in." Jiang Ruan's tone was flat, her gaze still fixed on the window.
Huo Zhizhou took a step behind her, wrapped his arms around her waist, and pressed her back against his chest: "Getting angry is bad for your health. Don't punish yourself for other people's mistakes."
A hint of mockery flashed in Jiang Ruan's eyes.
He said both good and bad things.
"I'll accept whatever punishment you want when we get back to Jingzhou." Huo Zhizhou held her small hand in his large palm. "Now, let's wash up and go to bed, okay?"
Jiang Ruan didn't believe a word he said.
He'll say he'll accept any punishment, but if you ask him not to sleep in the same room as her or to stay far away from her, he'll say he'll accept anything except punishments that affect the harmony of the couple's relationship.
He talks a good game now, but when it comes to actually doing something, he'll have more excuses than he'll admit it.
"If you don't answer, I'll take that as a yes." Huo Zhizhou pulled her around and made her look at him.
“I washed up before coming up.” Jiang Ruan subconsciously didn’t want to be near him, but he always managed to keep her by his side with just the right amount of force. “Go wash up yourself.”
"Okay." Huo Zhizhou didn't make things difficult for him.
He turned and went to the bathroom, no longer worried that Jiang Ruan would run away.
The sound of running water came from the bathroom. Jiang Ruan was still standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking out the window, thinking about all the things that had happened that night.
After learning that Sui Sui was safe and sound, Jiang Ruan's heart gradually calmed down. The calmer she became, the more she felt that all of Huo Zhizhou's actions tonight were very inconsistent with his style of doing things.
If someone like him really didn't want her to leave, he wouldn't need to risk Sui Sui's life.
She's sentimental, and there are too many things that could threaten her.
The footage seen in the video cannot be fake.
While pondering.
She had a guess.
Seeing the water still running in the bathroom, she walked to the bedside, picked up Huo Zhizhou's phone, and entered the password, which was her birthday, just like before.
She looked through his WeChat chat history and call logs, and found nothing wrong with them overall.
Considering his meticulous nature and the possibility that he might delete the message, she opened Dr. Zhou's contact information and sent him a message: "If Jiang Ruan asks you about tonight's events, just tell her the truth. There's no need to hide anything."
After confirming that everything was correct, she clicked send.
She knew her behavior was foolish; after everything that had happened, she still believed him.
But a voice deep inside her told her that Huo Zhizhou wasn't that kind of person; no matter how much he wanted to achieve his goal, he wouldn't joke about the child's life.
The sound of water in the bathroom stopped.
Jiang Ruan immediately deleted the message she sent to Dr. Zhou and put his phone back in its place.
bite--
Huo Zhizhou's phone screen lit up.
Jiang Ruan glanced at the bathroom, which was still closed and silent. Suppressing her nervous heartbeat, she walked over, picked up her phone again, and quickly unlocked it to check the messages.
"Crack".
The bathroom door was opened.
Jiang Ruan opened the messaging app, thinking that if it was from Dr. Zhou, she would delete it to prevent him from finding out. As for him seeing that she had taken his phone, so be it.
But to her surprise, the message on her homepage was from Su Anran: "Zhizhou, are you asleep? I'm not feeling well."
Jiang Ruan tightened her grip on the phone slightly.
Just as she was about to throw the phone back, her palm was empty.
Huo Zhizhou took the phone from her hand: "If you're willing to look at my phone, can you interpret that as you also wanting to make up with me a little?"
"Dream on." Jiang Ruan said this and walked to the sofa to sit down. She then used her phone to send a message to Dr. Zhou asking about tonight's events.
She just wanted Dr. Zhou to reply to her message first.
It doesn't matter if Huo Zhizhou finds out later after we go back.
Huo Zhizhou wiped his still-dripping hair with one hand and scrolled through his phone screen with the other. When he saw the message from Su Anran, he subconsciously glanced at the person curled up in a ball on the sofa.
He replied with a slight movement of his fingertips: "I'll have the family doctor come and see you."
Su Anran: [Okay.]
Huo Zhizhou quickly issued the order.
Just as he turned off the screen and was about to go talk to Jiang Ruan about this, he suddenly realized something.
Given her gentle nature, it's unlikely she would look through his phone while still angry with him, unless she wanted to know something related to her anger, like—Sui Sui.
His gaze fell on her with a thoughtful expression.
Two buzzing sounds.
It was Jiang Ruan's phone ringing.
She quickly picked up her phone and unlocked the screen, as if something was urgently waiting for her to confirm.
"Try to use your phone less at night." Huo Zhizhou snatched the phone from her hand. "It'll hurt your eyes."
"Give it back to me!" Jiang Ruan reached out her hand.
Huo Zhizhou glanced at it.
The message on her homepage was a message from Dr. Zhou, the first sentence of which was, "What happened tonight was actually a show put on for you by President Huo."
Jiang Ruan didn't know who sent her the message. She grabbed his arm and tried to snatch the phone. Huo Zhizhou was very tall, and when he deliberately held the phone up, Jiang Ruan could barely reach it even on tiptoe.
While she was standing on tiptoe to grab the phone, Huo Zhizhou used his own phone to send a message to Dr. Zhou: "Retract the message I sent to Jiang Ruan."
Even if he deletes it from her phone, it might still be there if she logs into her computer.
Withdrawal is the best option.
Dr. Zhou: "?"
Dr. Zhou was stunned for a moment, not knowing what was going on, he could only do as instructed.
Jiang Ruan also snatched her phone at this moment, holding it tightly in her hand and looking at him with disdain: "Whether my eyes are hurt or not is my own business, and I don't need you to worry about it."
Fearing that Huo Zhizhou would try to take her phone again, she walked a little further away before looking at it.
In Dr. Zhou's chat box, there was only one line of gray text: The other party withdrew a message.
She looked at the person who was still drying their hair.
"What's wrong?" Huo Zhizhou asked.
"Give me your phone." Jiang Ruan was convinced that he was up to something.
"I can give you the towel." Huo Zhizhou placed the towel aside and slowly walked towards her. "Go to bed first."
Jiang Ruan stared at him.
Huo Zhizhou refused to back down.
“Until you’re 100% willing to be Mrs. Huo again, some of the little things between us will have to be done through deals,” he reminded her. “You go to sleep, and I’ll let you check on my phone.”
