Chapter 152 The Mysterious Man Reappears
Jiang Ruan looked away and stopped looking, her mind racing with uncontrollable thoughts about whether Huo Zhizhou would answer.
The idea had just popped into my head.
Huo Zhizhou had already swiped to answer the call: "What is it?"
“My mom is here.” Su Anran’s voice was very emotional. “She’s forcing me to go back and get married, and she’s even hitting and scolding me here. When are you coming to help me deal with this?”
Huo Zhizhou unconsciously tightened his grip on his phone.
His thin lips were pressed into a straight line.
After a long pause, he finally replied, "I'll send someone over right away..."
“Since you promised to take care of me, you shouldn’t have pushed me onto someone else.” Su Anran dropped the pretense and was completely in a state of mutual torment. “If someone else doesn’t handle it well, it’s because you haven’t taken good care of me. If you haven’t taken good care of me, it’s because you haven’t kept your promise.”
That simple sentence made Huo Zhizhou's deep eyes grow even darker.
Seeing him like this, Jiang Ruan knew he would most likely go to deal with Su Anran's matter, so she opened the car door herself: "Have someone send me out of Ruanyuan, I'll take a taxi there myself."
Huo Zhizhou's dark eyes fell on her.
There was no explanation or rebuttal.
"Get Ruan Ruan safely to the Lu family's residence," he instructed the butler.
"Yes, sir," the butler replied.
Jiang Ruan closed the car door for him and left without looking back, heading towards the butler's car.
After watching her get into the car and leave, Huo Zhizhou asked Su Anran, "Where are you now?"
"The Waterside Villa," Su Anran replied. She had overheard the conversation and knew she had ruined something between Huo Zhizhou and Jiang Ruan. She felt no guilt, only the thrill of successful revenge.
Huo Zhizhou simply replied, "I understand."
He had his driver take him there.
On his way there, he made a phone call to Assistant Jiang.
The other person answered almost instantly: "BOSS".
"Check all of Su Anran's interpersonal relationships, including but not limited to relatives, friends, classmates, and past teachers," Huo Zhizhou instructed unhurriedly. "Give me a list when you're done."
Assistant Jiang: "Yes!"
Huo Zhizhou hung up the phone.
It's normal for Su Anran to come to him when she encounters trouble; it's something he promised her. It was his mistake for her to come to him at this time and interrupt his relationship with Jiang Ruan; he hadn't arranged all controllable factors in advance.
But such a thing will not happen a second time.
With this in mind, he sent Jiang Ruan a message: "I'll pick you up early Monday morning, and we'll take Sui Sui to summer camp together."
Jiang Ruan had just arrived at the Lu family home when she saw this message.
She stared at the words on her phone screen for a long time until the screen automatically dimmed before she typed "good".
She spent the rest of the morning teaching Xin Xin diligently. During a break, Xin Xin tilted her head and asked her with some concern, "Teacher Jiang, are you in a bad mood today?"
"Why do you say that?" Jiang Ruan replied naturally and cheerfully.
Xin Xin's bright eyes darted around and she said, "It feels like you don't have that same relaxed and carefree feeling when you dance. It's like you're carrying something on your back."
Jiang Ruan: "??"
A string of question marks appeared on Jiang Ruan's forehead.
Are all kids these days so extraordinary?
I can even sense that.
"Is something bothering you?" Xin Xin asked earnestly.
"I'm worried about going on a business trip next week, and I'm not sure if I can get back in time to teach you dance on Saturday." Jiang Ruan made up a reason casually, her warm hand holding her small hand.
"It's okay!" Xin Xin was cute but also had a bit of a domineering older sister vibe. "I'll put you in the back of the list, and you can come and teach me when you have time."
Jiang Ruan raised her hand: "Then it's settled."
Xin Xin: "It's a deal!"
"Smack!"
The two made a pact by high-fiving each other.
Lu Er witnessed this scene, and his usually carefree eyes softened with the warmth of a father.
If Jiang Ruan weren't Huo Zhizhou's wife and had no relation to him, he would genuinely be willing to keep hiring her as Xin Xin's teacher, even if she didn't teach dance.
When Jiang Ruan finished teaching Xin Xin and was leaving that day, he went over and called her back, even changing his way of addressing her: "Teacher Jiang".
Jiang Ruan: "Hmm?"
"I want to ask you something, is it convenient?" Lu Er's attitude and emotions were very stable, and his eyes were somewhat deep.
Jiang Ruan's emotions remained relatively calm: "Go ahead."
Lu Er asked her directly, "In all these years of your marriage to Huo Er, have you ever met a woman of similar age with the surname Qiao?"
Jiang Ruan replied, "No."
"Could you help me find out where she is?" Lu Er asked tentatively, his eyes filled with a cautious longing. "She is very important to me, and I haven't been able to contact her for a long time."
Si Nian discovered that she was working for Huo Zhizhou.
But he still couldn't get in touch with her.
“If you really want to contact someone, you can find them by searching through all sorts of channels.” Jiang Ruan didn’t agree, her mind was very clear. “Not to mention you have the identity of the second young master of the Lu family.”
Lu Er hadn't expected her to say that: "But..."
Jiang Ruan spoke almost at the same time as him: "I can't help with this. I have something to do, so I'll be leaving first."
"Take care." Lu Er did not insist on keeping him.
He had intended to use her to get Qiaoqiao to come out, but little did he know that her thought process was too clear-headed.
"Didn't you think about why you couldn't contact Mommy?" Xin Xin appeared out of nowhere, her words carrying a maturity beyond her years. "Did you realize your mistake back then?"
Lu Er: "..."
This girl has become increasingly rebellious lately.
Xin Xin didn't care about his oppressive gaze at all: "You still won't let Mommy see me, no wonder you can't get in touch with her."
"You silly girl." Lu Er was quite doting on her.
Xin Xin snorted and turned to leave, clearly not wanting to pay him any attention; she was obviously angry.
After leaving the Lu family, Jiang Ruan headed to the hospital, repeating what she did every Saturday, except that this weekend was slightly different from before.
Just as she was about to arrive at the hospital, she received a call from Dr. Zhou: "What's wrong, Dr. Zhou?"
"The man who came to see your mother last time is here again," Dr. Zhou told her, glancing at the people still registering on the monitor. "How much longer until you arrive?"
Jiang Ruan glanced at the ride-hailing app: "It'll be quick, about ten minutes."
Dr. Zhou: "Okay."
After hanging up the phone, Jiang Ruan said to the driver, "Driver, could you please hurry up a bit? I'm in a bit of a rush."
She had to ask who that person was. At first, she thought it was her mother's brother or something, since nieces resemble their uncles and she looked quite alike with him.
But Aunt Xu said that person was an enemy.
But why would the enemy visit her in the hospital time and time again?
She paused for a moment as soon as the thought crossed her mind, then quickly connected it to something else.
enemy?
Car accident?
Could his condition be related to his mother's car accident?
This thought dissipated even faster than the previous one. The car accident was just her suspicion and speculation. Xiao He's reaction was normal, so it was probably just an accident.
With mixed feelings of anxiety and trepidation, she quickly arrived at the hospital.
As she got off the bus, she sent Dr. Zhou a voice message: "Dr. Zhou, is that person still there?"
Dr. Zhou replied very quickly: "Yes."
