Chapter 52 The New President is Huo Zhizhou
"Then I'll wait until you get your salary and treat me to dinner." Ye Yanzhi didn't force her. His existence was just to give her another option. "You won't be as free after you start working. If you have to work overtime, just send me a message and I'll pick up Sui Sui for you."
“Okay.” Jiang Ruan didn’t refuse out of politeness.
They were already very good friends, helping each other since childhood. Refusing would only push their friendship further apart.
After chatting for a while, Jiang Ruan told the manager of Yuanyi Game Technology about her upcoming job offer. The manager replied to her in the shortest possible time and sent her a list of items to bring for the job.
Jiang Ruan replied, "Okay."
With a stable job, she felt a little more relaxed.
However, considering the expenses her mother needed during this period, she logged into her alternate artist account after returning home and uploaded several newly drawn illustrations for those who wanted to commission artwork to refer to.
The large-format paintings are all award-winning works, and the commissions are for works costing tens of thousands of yuan, but this kind of work is not available every month.
The smaller size is priced from a few hundred to several thousand yuan, so there are relatively more people booking appointments, and she can earn more extra money.
Thursday.
After sending Sui Sui to school, Jiang Ruan rushed to the company.
She arrived before nine o'clock. The manager personally greeted her, helped her sign the contract, and explained the project to her.
To be honest, Jiang Ruan was a little confused. Normally, these tasks would be handled by human resources. If the person being interviewed was important, it should be the HR director. It's extremely rare for a manager to personally handle the entire process.
"Welcome to Yuanyi Games." The manager said with a smile after she signed the contract. "With you here, our new project will definitely be fine."
"I will try my best." Jiang Ruan smiled slightly.
The manager led her to the floor of the new project. Yuanyi Games is a listed company, and the entire office building belongs to them. The new project is on the eighth floor.
The moment Jiang Ruan stepped into her own workstation and received her employee badge, an unprecedented mix of emotions welled up inside her, and the memory of her parents telling her that she didn't have a job flashed through her mind.
"Jiang Ruan," the manager called to her.
Jiang Ruan snapped out of her daze: "Hmm?"
“The other members of the new project haven’t arrived yet. I’ll introduce them to you when they get here.” The manager pulled a document from a folder next to him and handed it to her. “This is the information for the project. Take a look.”
Jiang Ruan took them one by one and put them in her hands.
The manager then spoke to her at length.
For the next twenty minutes or so, the manager kept talking to her, sometimes about the company's development, sometimes about projects, and sometimes about the members of the new project.
After he finished introducing the last member with the information, Jiang Ruan politely said, "Thank you, manager. If there's nothing else, I'll get back to work."
"Okay," the manager readily agreed.
Jiang Ruan sat down and began to look through the documents.
She spent the entire morning learning about the new project and even took the time to greet her colleagues on the project.
Before we knew it, it was afternoon.
Just as Jiang Ruan was about to finish reading the rest, there was a sudden commotion on the eighth floor.
A moment later, the manager came over, looking more serious than before: "Stop what you're doing. Our new boss wants to talk to you about a new project."
Everyone stopped working.
For some reason, Jiang Ruan suddenly felt uneasy. This emotion came so quickly that she hadn't even had time to react before her heart began to ache.
Her unease was confirmed when she stepped into the office of the former president of Yi Games.
Inside the CEO's office, Huo Zhizhou, dressed in a suit and tie, sat calmly in his executive chair. As they entered, his calm yet extremely imposing eyes swept over them one by one.
Finally, it stopped on Jiang Ruan.
It moved away in just a moment.
Jiang Ruan's good mood for the whole day vanished completely in that instant; she never expected that the result of her investigation would be like this.
"This is Mr. Huo from the Huo Group. He will be the president of our Yuanyi Games for the next two months," the manager introduced them. "He will be in full charge of the new project. From now on, you don't need to go through me for your work reports; just give them to Mr. Huo directly."
"Okay," everyone responded.
The manager began to introduce Huo Zhizhou to everyone one by one.
Jiang Ruan's eyes had been fixed on Huo Zhizhou ever since she entered, and the thought of resigning kept replaying in her mind.
Yuanyi Games is a listed company, but Huo Zhizhou Group has hundreds of such listed companies under its umbrella. He can't even manage all of them himself, so why would he come here? She doesn't believe he doesn't have ulterior motives.
"This is Jiang Ruan, the new concept artist for today," the manager introduced again. "She has extensive creative experience and exceptionally solid painting skills."
Huo Zhizhou glanced at it and then looked away, his expression indifferent: "Hmm."
The manager knew Huo Zhizhou's identity through his boss, General Manager Song, and naturally wanted to take good care of him: "Is there anything else you want to ask?"
"Not for now," Huo Zhizhou said calmly. "I only look at the project progress."
The manager didn't say anything more, just told them to leave. Jiang Ruan wanted to question Huo Zhizhou, but there were too many people here, and if she stayed, she would inevitably become the subject of gossip.
After returning to their workstations, everyone started gossiping.
"Holy crap, our new CEO is so handsome! His mature, masculine charm is so appealing!"
"Believe me, he might just stab you to death before you finish your work."
"Get back to work. That guy doesn't seem like someone you can talk to."
"Jiang Ruan," someone called her.
Jiang Ruan snapped out of her thoughts about quitting and quickly composed herself to look over: "Hmm?"
"How's your review of the project materials going?" The person who asked her walked over, dressed in a simple business suit, her slightly aloof eyes looking at her.
Jiang Ruan replied, "Almost there."
"Ask me if you don't understand anything." She said directly, her shoulder-length short hair making her look very capable. "You're in my group, so solve any problems promptly."
Jiang Ruan said "okay".
She also knew that this person was her team leader, Bai Jian.
She was out of sorts for the rest of the afternoon.
She wanted to go directly to the manager to tell him she was leaving, but she couldn't afford the penalty for breach of contract. After thinking it over, she went to the manager anyway. She had signed the contract, but the company might not have stamped it yet. As long as it wasn't stamped, there was still hope.
She had clearly forgotten at that moment.
If all of this was truly Huo Zhizhou's scheme, how could he possibly give her a chance to back out?
She arrived at the manager's office, considered for a moment, and then knocked on the door.
The manager immediately stopped what he was doing when he saw it was her: "Is there something you need?"
Jiang Ruan stood at the door: "May I come in and talk?"
"Of course." The manager stood up, picked up a glass to get some water, and casually asked her what was going on, "Did you come to see me for work, or something else?"
"I'd like to ask if the contract I signed this morning is still here," Jiang Ruan asked tentatively.
“I’ve given the contract to President Huo. Why don’t you ask him?” The manager said, sitting in her chair and glancing behind her. “He’s here right now.”
