Chapter 50: Promises not to interfere in Jiang Ruan's affairs anymore.

"Does being stubborn mean anything that doesn't go your way?" Jiang Ruan met his cool gaze and said softly, "Anything that doesn't meet your expectations is considered making you angry."

Huo Zhizhou gradually increased the force with which he controlled her.

Jiang Ruan was in a lot of pain, but she didn't utter a sound.

"Huo Zhizhou, can you stop being so childish?" Jiang Ruan thought he was practically a kid.

"Do you know how much trouble I've helped you out these past few days?" Huo Zhizhou didn't let go of her. "Do you think Jiang Chenren and those people in the private room haven't come looking for you again?"

Jiang Ruan paused for a moment.

Huo Zhizhou told her, "Because I took care of it for you in advance, even if you don't listen, I still don't want you to waste your energy on these trivial matters."

He was angry with her.

Because she was disobedient, unruly, and stubborn.

Even so, he still wanted to protect her, hoping that she would come back on her own after hitting enough walls.

"Have you ever considered that the trouble you've helped me solve far outweighs the trouble you've caused me?" Jiang Ruan remained calm and stopped struggling against his control.

Huo Zhizhou's eyes narrowed slightly.

“If you don’t interfere, I can sell the ring for a high price, I can find a job in the shortest time, and even if my dad gets entangled with me, Su Zhu can help me resolve it immediately,” Jiang Ruan continued. “I can live a better life than I do now, and I won’t have to worry about your retaliation at any time.”

"Is that what you think?" Huo Zhizhou's veins on the back of his hand were visibly prominent, but he didn't increase the force.

Jiang Ruan answered firmly, "Yes."

Huo Zhizhou's voice deepened slightly: "Have you considered the consequences of not being protected by me?"

"I hadn't thought about it." Jiang Ruan had never lived a life without any support. "But it's better than now."

Huo Zhizhou released her.

Jiang Ruan took the opportunity to get off the car.

She stood a few steps away from him, clearly wary of him.

Huo Zhizhou didn't care. He straightened his sleeves, stood up, and took two steps toward her, still as composed as ever: "You can leave now."

"You haven't given me an answer to what you promised." Jiang Ruan wanted an answer.

"I won't interfere with your final interview, nor will I tell Jiang Chenren about your affairs." Huo Zhizhou's voice was somewhat indifferent, and he seemed more distant than before. "Satisfied?"

Jiang Ruan said, "Thank you, President Huo."

Huo Zhizhou's eyes grew increasingly cold.

Jiang Ruan turned and left without lingering; she still needed to go to the hospital to see how her mother was recovering.

Watching her retreating figure without a backward glance, Huo Zhizhou's aura grew even more oppressive. Just as she was about to step out of the garage, he called out to her, "Jiang Ruan."

"Is there anything else, Mr. Huo?" Jiang Ruan stopped and turned around. A gentle breeze lifted her ankle-length skirt, and her hair at the temples was slightly disheveled.

Huo Zhizhou's expression faltered for a moment.

This scene had happened countless times before, but unlike now, he used to call her Ruan Ruan, and she would turn around lively, smiling brightly at him, and then say with a hint of mischief, "What!"

Back then, she was delicate, cute, and a little mischievous.

"I'll be going now if there's nothing else." Jiang Ruan couldn't stand his gaze any longer and spoke again.

“After today, I won’t help you avoid trouble, nor will I deliberately make things difficult for you.” Huo Zhizhou gave her the life she wanted, “but for Sui Sui to have a stable life, he will stay with me before the divorce.”

Jiang Ruan refused without even thinking: "No way."

If Sui Sui is taken back by him, it will be difficult for her to take him away again.

Huo's parents have never been satisfied with the fact that she has custody of the child. Even though Huo Zhizhou told them that, there's no guarantee they won't say some nonsense to Sui Sui.

"I'm not discussing this with you," Huo Zhizhou said firmly.

"How can you be sure that Sui Sui's life will be stable if she goes back with you?" Jiang Ruan suppressed her fear of him and said bluntly, "Don't forget that besides going to work, you spend most of your time with Su Anran. Do you want him to see you two being all lovey-dovey and inseparable?"

Huo Zhizhou looked up.

I wanted to refute her subsequent irrelevant adjectives, but after much consideration, I decided against it.

“You can send someone to protect him secretly, but he must stay with me.” Jiang Ruan insisted on this point.

Seeing that she was determined to reason with him even if he disagreed, Huo Zhizhou finally threw out two words at her: "Whatever you want."

Jiang Ruan breathed a sigh of relief.

To be honest, she was afraid she couldn't win against him. If Huo Zhizhou really insisted, she wouldn't be able to stop him at all, since they hadn't gotten the divorce certificate yet and both she and Huo Zhizhou had custody of the child.

After leaving the waterside villa, she went to the hospital.

Huo Zhizhou stood in the courtyard outside watching her leave. Only after her figure disappeared from sight did he call Gu Shixi: "There's no need to tell Jiang Chenren about Jiang Ruan's matter."

“Your decisions are more fickle than God’s.” Gu Shixi said to him.

"Have your people withdraw and stop monitoring him," Huo Zhizhou said calmly. "Just treat him like an ordinary employee at the bar."

Gu Shixi was stunned for a moment.

Why is he a little confused?

“If the people leave, Jiang Chenren will definitely try to find ways to cause trouble for Jiang Ruan.” Gu Shixi was quite familiar with this. “It wouldn’t be difficult for him to find Jiang Ruan’s residence.”

Huo Zhizhou: "Do as instructed."

Since she didn't want him to help her solve her problems, he did as she wished.

He wanted to see how long she could hold out.

“Okay.” Gu Shixi didn’t say much. Ever since he talked to Huo Zhizhou at the hospital last time, he knew that he, as an ordinary person, couldn’t understand Huo Zhizhou’s thoughts. “There’s something I need to tell you in advance. Jiang Chenren can’t stand the job of washing cups. If he goes out, his emotions will probably flare up badly.”

"Hmm," Huo Zhizhou replied calmly.

Seeing his reaction, Gu Shixi didn't say anything more and had his men leave.

The call ended.

Huo Zhizhou was still in the courtyard when he tapped his phone a few times and sent a message to Assistant Jiang.

After Jiang Ruan left, Su Anran went downstairs and stood at the door. She only walked over cautiously after he finished his phone call, feeling a little intimidated by his imposing aura: "Zhi Zhou."

Huo Zhizhou looked up and, noticing her unusual expression, asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

"It's nothing." Su Anran suppressed all the questions she wanted to ask, not daring to voice her worries. "I just wanted to tell you that you don't need to stand up for me over these things anymore. Ruan Ruan is, after all, your wife."

Huo Zhizhou didn't speak, but the innate aura he exuded put immense pressure on people.

Su Anran's hands fidgeted nervously.

Although he said he would support her for life and give her all the riches and luxuries she wanted, he has never said that she was his Mrs. Huo or his wife.

As for his claim that she was the mistress of Ruanyuan, he only said it on purpose to spite Jiang Ruan.

She was aware of this, and Huo Zhizhou knew she was aware of it too.

After all, it was the manor he had personally built for Jiang Ruan, with endless meadows, luxurious villas, an orchard that Jiang Ruan loved, and a wine cellar...

Even though he divorced Jiang Ruan, that place still belonged only to Jiang Ruan.
