Chapter 33 Isn't Habit Mrs. Huo's Life?
"The password to the main door is your birthday," Huo Zhizhou said to him in an extremely gentle tone. "The inside is decorated like a home."
"Home is where Mommy is." She's extremely protective of her children.
Huo Zhizhou raised his eyebrows slightly, his calm gaze falling on Jiang Ruan.
Jiang Ruan felt uncomfortable under his gaze, so she pulled out a chair at the table, sat down, and gave him the order to leave: "If there's nothing else, please leave and don't disturb our meal."
"Didn't you eat before coming back? Why did you eat again?" Huo Zhizhou asked Sui Sui, who was sitting next to him.
Sui Sui said in a soft, sweet voice, "Mommy's cooking is delicious."
Huo Zhizhou glanced at the dishes on the table. They did look quite good, but said, "No matter how delicious they are, don't overindulge. Be careful not to get an upset stomach."
Jiang Ruan's hand gripping the chopsticks suddenly tightened.
Who is being implied?
"It's not good to eat too much at night." Seeing that she was angry, Huo Zhizhou said the second half of the sentence, "Did you hear me?"
Sui Sui nodded her little head, but didn't stop eating.
Huo Zhizhou didn't leave until they finished their meal.
After sending Sui Sui to her room to study, he sat on the sofa and watched Jiang Ruan tidy up the dishes on the dining table and put them in the sink. Just when he thought she didn't know how to wash them, she turned on the tap and started washing them one by one.
Watching her slender, fair hands enter the sink, and her fingers touch the grease on the bowl, Huo Zhizhou's handsome brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.
That hand should be holding a paintbrush or playing the piano.
Instead of washing dishes.
He watched Jiang Ruan wash for as long as she did so.
Jiang Ruan finished packing everything and came out of the kitchen, only to meet his undisguised gaze. She paused for a moment before speaking, "Why haven't you left yet?"
"Isn't this the lifestyle Mrs. Huo is used to?" Huo Zhizhou asked instead of answering.
Jiang Ruan replied clearly, "I'm used to it."
Huo Zhizhou did not expose her.
Having grown accustomed to a life where she doesn't have to cook, wash dishes, or do basic housework, it's impossible for her to suddenly adapt to having to do everything herself.
"Quit Lu Er's job as soon as possible." He stayed so long just to talk to her about this. "You should know that this job was specially tailored for you by my older brother."
Jiang Ruan frowned slightly.
Wasn't that released by the Lu family?
“Lu Er’s child has always studied ballet, so how could he possibly need a classical dance teacher?” Huo Zhizhou rested his elbows on the sofa armrests, exuding an air of nonchalance.
Jiang Ruan paused, her mind searching for information about the Lu family.
However, all she knew were Huo Zhizhou's friends; she knew very little about this Second Young Master Lu.
“Sui Sui spends the whole Saturday learning martial arts, and Lu Er’s child happens to have a dance class on Saturday morning,” Huo Zhizhou said unhurriedly. “Guess what such a coincidence is.”
Hearing this, Jiang Ruan was already half convinced.
With Huo Sinian's abilities, doing these things would not be difficult. In order not to arouse her suspicion, it is also not impossible to change the whole day of Saturday into a morning.
"If you don't want to fall into his hands, quit your job as soon as possible." Huo Zhizhou understood her thoughts clearly from her expression. "You know what kind of methods he uses."
Jiang Ruan knew.
But she has no choice now.
If she quits this job, where will she earn money? Play the piano outside? Huo Zhizhou will definitely make things difficult for her. Find a job? She still vividly remembers the things he told her about the failed final meeting because he tried to stop her.
"If I really fall into his hands, I'll accept it," she replied.
Huo Zhizhou is a pit of fire, and Huo Sinian is a trap. Since there are tigers and wolves both ways, it's better to go with whichever one is more agreeable. After all, nothing is more important than making money right now.
Huo Zhizhou stared at her with his dark eyes, trying to see if she was joking.
“Besides, what you just said was only your side of the story.” Jiang Ruan met his gaze. “I don’t have anything that my brother can use against me. He wouldn’t bother to set up such a trap just to deal with me.”
Huo Zhizhou's eyes were deep and somber.
He can't very well say that the trap was set on him.
“Even if he did, he would only be using me to deal with others.” Jiang Ruan changed the subject. “He gave me such a high-paying and easy job, so what’s wrong with him using me a little?”
“Even if the person he’s dealing with is Sui Sui.” Huo Zhizhou hadn’t expected her to think that way.
“Although my brother’s methods are somewhat unsavory and his actions are rather extreme,” Jiang Ruan said, each word hitting Huo Zhizhou’s sore spots, “he would never harm a child.”
Huo Zhizhou's eyes darkened slightly, and he exuded an extremely strong sense of pressure: "How much contact have you had with him? How much do you know about him?"
That's why they spoke up for him.
What kind of spell did Huo Sinian cast on her?
“He won’t.” Jiang Ruan simply said those three firm words.
Huo Zhizhou gradually increased the pressure on his hand holding the phone.
Jiang Ruan glanced at the time and, without a shred of emotion, dismissed him: "If there's nothing else, please leave."
The words had barely left his mouth.
A bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder.
Rumble!
As the thunder roared, the windows shook. Jiang Ruan, who had been afraid of thunder since childhood, trembled involuntarily. Only after the first clap of thunder gradually subsided did she hurry to the window and draw the curtains, as if that would block out some of the noise.
Huo Zhizhou took in everything she did, and just as he was about to say something, his phone suddenly rang.
The screen displayed the three characters "Su Anran".
Jiang Ruan saw it after she drew the curtains.
Huo Zhizhou's well-defined knuckles slid gently across the screen, and the phone call was connected.
"Zhizhou, where are you?" Su Anran's voice trembled slightly as it came through the phone. "Could you come to the Waterside Villa to keep me company? I'm afraid of thunder."
A hint of mockery flashed across Jiang Ruan's eyes.
Is Su Anran afraid of thunder?
After the university broke up because of that incident, she deliberately locked her in the school's equipment room with others during a thunderstorm, with her arms crossed and watching her through the window as she was scared.
One after another, thunderbolts rained down, and she covered her ears in fright, too scared to move.
She, however, was in a good mood chatting with her outside.
She covered her ears and couldn't hear what she was saying, but she would never forget that smug and mocking expression.
Perhaps it was the past that fueled her desire for revenge, or perhaps she simply wanted to make Su Anran unhappy. Before Huo Zhizhou could even speak, she preemptively said, "Mr. Huo, your wife wants you to go back. Please don't shamelessly linger here."
These words were spoken.
Su Anran fell silent instantly, her eyes filled with malice, and she gripped her phone so tightly that she almost crushed the screen.
Why is Huo Zhizhou with Jiang Ruan?
Did he have feelings for her, or did Jiang Ruan call him over?
No matter which one, she couldn't accept it. He could only be hers, and no one could take him away!
"Zhizhou, are you with Ruanruan?" Su Anran's voice sounded like she was about to cry.
