Chapter 22 The Ring Buyer
"What happened to you?" Su Zhu brushed her hair aside, revealing the complete, ambiguous marks. "Don't tell me it was Huo Zhizhou's dog who did it."
Jiang Ruan subconsciously raised her hand to touch it, not expecting that it would leave a mark after such a short time.
Su Zhu deduced from her expression: "It really is him?"
"Yes," Jiang Ruan admitted.
"That bastard! He was seeing Su Anran while doing this to you!" Su Zhu held a grudge against him again, cursing and swearing, "He's a real piece of trash, a scoundrel!"
Jiang Ruan expressed her approval.
Su Zhu was furious and wanted to castrate him.
"There's something I'd like to discuss with you." After much consideration, Jiang Ruan decided to talk to her directly.
Su Zhu had endless patience with her: "Go on, tell me."
"I might have to stay at your place for a few days." Even though they were best friends, Jiang Ruan still preferred to greet them first, as it was the most basic respect. "I haven't found a place to live yet, and I can't go back to my old place."
Huo Zhizhou changed the password; she couldn't very well go back to it shamelessly.
Besides, he and she should have kept their distance from each other in the first place.
“This house is yours. You can stay as long as you want.” Su Zhu knew she was stubborn, so she didn’t nag like before. “Come over and register your fingerprints so you can come and go easily when I’m not home.”
Jiang Ruan obeyed this time.
After the fingerprints were taken, Su Zhu planned to help her find out about her personal diamond collection, but then her father called, urgently asking her to come to the company, which she couldn't refuse.
"It's alright, you go ahead and do your thing." Jiang Ruan didn't want to delay her important business because of her.
"Then wait for me at home. Message me if anything comes up." Su Zhu knew he wouldn't call her over unless it was something very important. "I'll be right back."
Jiang Ruan hummed in agreement and saw her out.
Su Zhu's parents had a business marriage. Although they each did their own thing after marriage, they both cared a lot about Su Zhu. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that she was their little princess.
She had only been gone for less than an hour when Jiang Ruan received a message on her phone.
Mr. Gu: [Hello, do you still have the ring?]
Jiang Ruan replied quickly: [Yes.]
The other party asked for her phone number and called her to communicate, stating directly his purpose: "I am very interested in the diamond on the ring you are wearing. If it is convenient, let's meet to discuss it in detail. The price is negotiable."
"Who are you?" Jiang Ruan wouldn't rush to meet the other person without confirming their identity.
The other person introduced himself: "I am Gu Shixi, the president of Gu's Group."
After saying that, he also showed her his business card and information.
Jiang Ruan confirmed it and agreed: "Where should we meet?"
She had heard of Gu Shixi from the Gu Group; he was an upright and good person with a good reputation in the industry, and it was safer to do business with him.
"Jingda Hotel, Conference Room 2801," Gu Shixi gave the address. "I happen to be here discussing cooperation."
Jiang Ruan agreed: "Okay, I'll be right there."
Although Gu Shixi had a good reputation, just in case, she sent two messages to Su Zhu before going to inform her of her whereabouts and turned on the quick alarm button on her phone so that she could ensure her safety in the shortest possible time in case of an accident.
After all, there are very few trustworthy people in this world.
Su Zhu received the news immediately.
As she took out her phone to look at it, Su's father coughed lightly: "You really don't want to be with me? You're playing on your phone after only a few words."
“I was afraid Ruan Ruan might need to contact me.” Su Zhu unlocked her phone. “You still haven’t told me what you wanted to talk to me about.”
Su's father snatched the phone from her hand.
Su Zhu: What are you doing?
"Choose one." As Su's father said this, he glanced at her message list out of the corner of his eye. When he saw the two messages from the pinned contact "Someone to share trivial matters with," he quietly moved his phone to a different position and deleted the messages.
He knew this person was Jiang Ruan.
Su Zhu: "?"
Su Zhu didn't notice his actions: "What? Choose one?"
"Do you want me, or your phone?" Su's father didn't let her doubt him.
"Nonsense, of course I want my phone." Su Zhu stood up and took the phone in her hand. "If I choose you, who knows what your girlfriends outside will say about me behind my back."
Su's father dared not respond.
Su Zhu wasn't interested in their relationship, as long as they didn't interfere with her: "If there's nothing important, I'll head back now."
"Wait a minute." Su's father, remembering someone's instructions, continued to stall, "Do you know about Jiang Ruan and Huo Zhizhou's divorce?"
"I know, what's wrong?" Su Zhu replied naturally.
"Try to have as little contact with her as possible during this time, and don't get involved if she has any difficulties," Su's father reminded her, not wanting her to be targeted by Huo Zhizhou. "I know you two have a good relationship, but sometimes you have to learn to avoid the limelight."
Su Zhu said one word about Shenjin to him and then left.
After leaving the company, she went to meet with the two private collectors. If the conversation went well, the ring could be sold; if not, she would have to find another way.
More than an hour later, Su Zhu met with both of them and talked to them, but neither of them accepted the offer.
She also sent a voice message to Jiang Ruan about it: "I talked to those two people, and they didn't dare to accept the ring on your hand. They said that Huo Zhizhou, that bastard, had said in the industry that whoever buys your ring is going against him."
After sending the message, Su Zhu asked her again, "Is there anything you want to eat that I can bring back? We can discuss it slowly."
The message was sent out but disappeared without a trace.
There were no messages on Jiang Ruan's phone. From the moment she stepped into conference room 2801, she was destined not to receive any messages from anyone. The entire 25th floor and above had signal jammers activated.
Jiang Ruan discovered this while looking at her phone, which made her somewhat uneasy.
Although the gate was open, the sight of the two tall, burly bodyguards in black at the entrance made me a little intimidated.
"Where's your boss?" Jiang Ruan asked the man who had been standing next to her.
"I'm discussing business with a distinguished guest in the conference room next door." The man, Gu Shixi's secretary, answered her question naturally. "They should be finished soon."
Jiang Ruan pursed her lips and still asked, "Why is there no signal here?"
"The boss is discussing something important with his VIP guests, so we specially installed a signal jammer to prevent anyone from leaking information during the meeting," the secretary replied methodically. "The signal will be back once they finish their business."
Jiang Ruan nodded, but her heart was still uneasy.
She couldn't receive or send messages, and she didn't know how to contact Su Zhu should anything happen.
Another minute or two passed, and Gu Shixi still hadn't arrived.
Jiang Ruan glanced around the entire conference room, then stood up and said politely, "I just remembered that my friend is waiting for me downstairs. I'll go down and tell her first, so she won't get impatient."
After saying that, he walked towards the gate.
However, when she reached the door...
Two bodyguards reached out and blocked her way.
"What do you mean by this?" Jiang Ruan gripped her bag tightly and turned to look at her stern-faced secretary.
"I'm sorry to have kept Miss Jiang waiting." Gu Shixi walked in from the door and said in a gentle and pleasant voice.
