Chapter 11 Name Your Price

She put the car keys away and went over to call out, "Dad, Mom."

"Who are your parents?" Mrs. Huo's face was full of sarcasm, and even though she was wearing a dignified and elegant cheongsam, it did not diminish her hostility in the slightest.

Jiang Ruan wasn't angry.

She always knew that Mr. and Mrs. Huo disliked her.

Over the years of their marriage, she hasn't spent much time with them, partly because Huo Zhizhou didn't want her to suffer any grievances there, and partly because Huo Zhizhou's relationship with his parents wasn't very good.

This resulted in us not spending much time together outside of the New Year's Eve dinner.

"Where is Zhizhou?" asked Mr. Huo, his face serious.

Perhaps it was a rebellious streak, or perhaps she was simply throwing caution to the wind, but she replied with a few words: "I don't know."

"I heard you're talking about divorce?" Mr. Huo looked up, his presence exuding a strong sense of pressure.

Jiang Ruan subconsciously looked upstairs.

As if knowing what she was thinking, Mr. Huo answered for her: "Sui Sui isn't home. I had someone take him out to play. He won't be back for an hour."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Ruan received a message on her phone from Sui Sui.

"Why bother talking to her so much?" Mrs. Huo had no patience at all, and her gaze towards Jiang Ruan showed no respect whatsoever. "I won't beat around the bush with you. Today we're here mainly to clarify one thing: who gets custody of the children in your divorce?"

Jiang Ruan's hands tightened slightly.

Su Zhu was right.

"Him." Jiang Ruan didn't want to cause any unnecessary trouble.

Given Huo Zhizhou's relationship with them, he most likely wouldn't tell them.

If it were up to her, given their personalities, they would definitely be relentless and might not even let her pick up the child afterward. In more extreme cases, they might not even give her a chance to see the child.

"Then take a look at this." Mr. Huo produced a divorce agreement from somewhere.

Jiang Ruan took it and looked at it.

It's exactly the same as the one they submitted.

How did I end up here?

"I don't know how you got Zhizhou to give you custody of Suisui, but now you have to give it back to me." Mr. Huo's attitude was forceful. "He is a child of the Huo family, and he can't go with an outsider like you."

Jiang Ruan retorted, "If mothers are outsiders, then what are you?"

"Jiang Ruan, while I still have the patience to talk to you, don't be ungrateful." Mr. Huo's voice suddenly turned cold, and his impatience began to surface.

Jiang Ruan really disliked their arrogant attitude: "I am Sui Sui's mother, and it is perfectly legitimate for me to raise him."

"You don't even have a job, how are you going to support him?" Huo's mother poked at her sore spot, her contempt in her words was very obvious.

“I didn’t have a job before because I worked from home, and no one treated those things as work and converted them into wages to deposit into my account.” Jiang Ruan was well protected, but that doesn’t mean she had no judgment about everything. “After I found a job, someone paid me a salary.”

"So what?" The contempt in Mrs. Huo's eyes was obvious.

Jiang Ruan raised her eyes.

Huo's mother said sarcastically, "The money you earn isn't even enough to buy Sui Sui one piece of clothing."

"We have custody of the child." After a moment of silence, Mr. Huo spoke again, his voice carrying a hint of authority. "Name your price."

Seeing them like this, Jiang Ruan felt countless times that Sui Sui couldn't grow up in such a family.

There was a moment of silence.

She presented them with a difficult problem, confident that they couldn't afford the price: "Give me all the shares of the Huo Group under Huo Zhizhou's name."

"Dream on!" Mrs. Huo thought she was just after their family's money.

Jiang Ruan calmly replied, "You were the ones who started this wild idea."

Huo's mother was so angry that her chest heaved.

The atmosphere around Mr. Huo was terrifyingly tense.
