Chapter 7 Acting in front of her son
His gaze swept around the room before finally settling on the suitcase Jiang Ruan was still holding. His soft, cute voice carried a serious tone: "Mommy, what are you doing with that suitcase?"
Jiang Ruan opened her mouth, but couldn't think of a reasonable reason for a moment.
"I packed my luggage." Huo Zhizhou spoke, squatting down in front of him, his gaze level with his. "Daddy's going on a business trip for a few days. You have to be a good girl at home and listen to Mommy these few days, okay?"
Sui Sui nodded obediently: "I know."
Huo Zhizhou patted his head: "Good boy."
"Who is this auntie?" Sui Sui looked at Su Anran.
"She's Dad's secretary," Huo Zhizhou lied effortlessly. "She's going on a business trip with Dad later."
Jiang Ruan unconsciously tightened her grip on the lever, but her face showed no emotion whatsoever.
Huo Zhizhou stood up, walked over to her, and naturally took the suitcase from her hand. As usual, he kissed her red lips and said in a gentle tone, "I'm leaving. Call me if you miss me, okay?"
Jiang Ruan suppressed her discomfort and uttered a stiff "Mmm".
"Good girl." Huo Zhizhou gently tucked a stray hair behind her ear, his fingertips sliding down her earlobe before finally caressing it intimately. "Wait for me to come back."
"Hurry up, or we'll miss our flight," Jiang Ruan urged him.
Now, she feels disgusted even if she has to be in close contact with him for just one second.
She just wanted him to leave as soon as possible.
Huo Zhizhou noticed her rejection, and before leaving, he deliberately lowered his head and kissed her lips briefly, leaving her without even a chance to refuse. By the time she looked up at him with a hint of anger, he had already taken her suitcase and walked out of the room one after the other with Su Anran.
"Mommy," Sui Sui suddenly spoke as they left.
Jiang Ruan suppressed her emotions and faced him in her best condition: "What's wrong?"
Sui Sui opened her mouth, about to speak, but swallowed it back and said something else: "It's lunchtime, let's go downstairs to eat."
"Okay," Jiang Ruan replied.
During the meal.
Jiang Ruan was still thinking about what had just happened.
He lied to Sui Sui without batting an eye; wasn't he afraid she'd tell her about his affair? And those two kisses—why did he kiss her when he clearly had someone else on the side?
Just as I was thinking this, I suddenly remembered the suitcase he took, which contained all my documents, including my ID card and passport that I used frequently.
She took his phone and texted him: "When are you returning my suitcase?"
Huo Zhizhou saw it, but he didn't reply. About an hour later, another message came through on his phone.
He thought it was Jiang Ruan urging him, but it turned out to be a voice message from Sui Sui: "Daddy, that auntie today wasn't your secretary, right?"
Huo Zhizhou was taken aback.
I didn't expect him to ask that. I was about to reply when I remembered that he had told me he was going on a business trip. He should still be on the plane at this time and wouldn't be able to receive my message.
Sui Sui waited in the room.
If his father replied to his message, it meant he wasn't on a business trip and was lying to him.
But Huo Zhizhou is his father after all, and he wouldn't make such a basic mistake.
Jiang Ruan, on the other hand, waited for several hours without receiving a reply from him, so she simply called him.
As soon as the call connected, before she could even speak, Su Anran's voice came through the phone: "Zhizhou, I've finished showering."
"Go back to your room and rest first, I'll take this call." Huo Zhizhou's voice was deep and pleasant, filled with tenderness.
