Chapter 3 I can take divorce as you throwing a tantrum.

He sat on the sofa wearing the same custom-made gray suit he wore that morning when he went to get a divorce. He looked languid and aloof. He was chatting casually with the doctor, and it was clear that the divorce hadn't affected him in the slightest.

When he saw her appear, he looked up at her.

Jiang Ruan's hands, hanging limply at her sides, clenched unconsciously, her eyes revealing obvious dislike and disgust.

"You've arrived," the doctor greeted simply.

Jiang Ruan looked away and said, "Mm."

"I've already discussed this with you on the phone. Here's the monthly deduction. Take a look. If everything's okay, just fill in the information and sign it." The doctor handed her the bill.

Jiang Ruan received it.

My heart sank slightly when I saw the six- or seven-figure monthly medical expenses.

If her premarital assets hadn't been swindled away by her father, she could have survived for a few more months, but now she has nothing, and given her current financial situation, it's simply impossible for her to support such a huge expense.

"If you feel the cost is too much, you can choose a suitable option from these plans." As if sensing her dilemma, the doctor handed her another document.

The new plan is much cheaper than the current one, but it still costs over 100,000 yuan per month.

Seeing that she was still looking, the doctor subconsciously glanced at Huo Zhizhou.

The latter gave him a look, and the doctor understood instantly.

"Then take your time and look at it." The doctor stood up with his phone in hand. "I'll go check on the patient in the ward. If these aren't suitable either, we can discuss it in detail when I get back."

Jiang Ruan's attention was entirely focused on the treatment plan: "Okay."

The doctor left quickly, making sure to close the door behind him as he left the office.

Only Jiang Ruan and Huo Zhizhou remained in the room, and the air was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

“No matter how long you stare at what you’re holding, you can’t afford your mother’s expensive medical bills,” Huo Zhizhou said.

As always, he was nonchalant, calm, and careless.

Jiang Ruan's anger flared up instantly, and she looked at him with fury.

“Not to mention you also have to rent a place and take care of Sui Sui,” Huo Zhizhou said.

Jiang Ruan stared at him: "What exactly are you trying to say?"

“I can take the divorce as you throwing a tantrum.” Huo Zhizhou stood up and walked over to her. “As long as you don’t mention it again, I will cover your mother’s expenses, and you will still be my wife.”

"Where is Su Anran?" Jiang Ruan asked.

"You two should not interfere with each other." Huo Zhizhou's eyes were indifferent. "If you don't like it, I can make sure she doesn't appear in front of you."

Jiang Ruan's words carried a hint of mockery: "Should I thank you for your thoughtfulness?"

"You should know which choice is most beneficial to you." Huo Zhizhou understood her sarcastic tone and said calmly, as if discussing a business deal, "Having grown accustomed to the life of the wealthy, you should know the principle that it is easy to go from frugality to extravagance, but difficult to go from extravagance to frugality."

Jiang Ruan certainly understood.

She has never experienced any hardship from childhood to adulthood.

Before the Jiang family's misfortune, she had never worried about money. After the misfortune, before she could even react, Huo Zhizhou married her.

She could use the card as she pleased, and naturally, she never worried about money.

Logically speaking, she should be content.

Even if Su Anran is with Huo Zhizhou, Huo Zhizhou will not mistreat her. He will still give her what she wants and will still treat her with the same meticulous care as before.

But life isn't just about money; integrity and dignity are also important.

"You can't eat your pride and dignity, and the outside world isn't as easy as you think." Huo Zhizhou saw right through her thoughts and said ruthlessly, "Without me, in your current situation, you'll find it impossible to get by."

Jiang Ruan said irritably, "You don't need to worry about this. Just mind your own business."

"Jiang Ruan." Huo Zhizhou didn't understand why she was so stubborn.

"If Mr. Huo has nothing else to say, please leave. I have things to discuss with the doctor and don't have time to listen to your grand pronouncements." This was the first time Jiang Ruan had spoken to him in such an unfriendly tone.

Huo Zhizhou wasn't angry.

He just stared at her.

Under such scrutiny, Jiang Ruan's psychological defenses were gradually broken down.

She gripped the paper in her hand, forcing herself to meet his gaze, enduring the oppressive feeling, determined to win this eye contact contest.

"You have one minute to consider," Huo Zhizhou said calmly. "Within one minute, I will forgive and forget. After one minute, you're just a softie. Even if you beg me then, I might not agree."

She turned to look out the window, answering his question silently.

Huo Zhizhou didn't linger; he left after a minute.

He felt that Jiang Ruan was being ungrateful.

A disobedient person needs to be made to hit a wall before she'll realize who truly cares about her.

The door slammed shut with a bang, sending a jolt through Jiang Ruan's heart.

She once thought that although her relationship with Huo Zhizhou was not as dramatic as others, it was still a long-lasting and sincere one.

But now she doesn't quite understand.

Before she could think things through about the marriage, the doctor walked in.

Before he could speak, Jiang Ruan composed herself and said first, "Dr. Zhou, let me take it back and think about it carefully before giving you an answer, is that alright?"

"Of course," Dr. Zhou replied readily. "But we need to be quick. It's best to make a decision ten days before the bill is due."

"Okay, thank you."

Jiang Ruan left the hospital with the treatment plan.

She wanted to look for a job first.

If the salary is decent, she'll let her mother stay there.

That hospital is a private hospital under the Huo Group, which brings together top-notch medical equipment and experts from all over the world. Because of Huo Zhizhou, her mother's treatment in all aspects has been taken very well over the years. If she were transferred to another hospital, her mother would not receive such good treatment.

She is the only family member in the world who loves her.

She didn't want anything to happen to her.

With these thoughts in mind, Jiang Ruan left the hospital and went home.

All the way there, she kept thinking about how to tell Sui Sui about the divorce.

He has been smart and sensible since childhood, with a higher IQ and EQ than his peers. She doesn't need to worry about many things. However, divorce is not a small matter for a child, and she is still a little worried that he will have difficulty accepting it.

But her concerns contrasted with the actions of some people.

As soon as she got home, she saw a scene that disgusted her.

Su Anran and Huo Zhizhou sat on the sofa, snuggling together. Su Anran said with a hint of worry, "This is, after all, your and Jiang Ruan's home. Is it inappropriate for me to be here?"

"No," Huo Zhizhou said in a low voice.

Su Anran bit her lip: "But..."

"She'll be moving out of here soon," Huo Zhizhou reassured her. "After that, you'll be the mistress of this place."

Su Anran looked up at him, their eyes meeting, reluctant to part.

So much so that they didn't even notice when Jiang Ruan returned.
