Chapter 16: The Fishing Scene
The crowd whispered among themselves.
"They don't seem to be from Ping'an City?"
"Keep your voice down, don't let them hear you."
"I didn't say anything, so why would they hit me?"
"That depends on their temperament. Do you know what level of cultivation they have?"
The man asked hesitantly, "...What level of cultivation?"
His companion pulled him back and whispered, "He's at least two realms higher than us."
The man exclaimed in shock, "Holy crap, Golden Core stage?!"
His companion nodded: "Yeah, so let's keep a low profile."
Similar conversations were spontaneously repeated among the participants. After realizing that Lou Yuqing and the others were not to be trifled with, the whispers among the people immediately subsided.
Elder Kui Tu was not surprised by this; high cultivation often inspires awe in others.
Ping'an City covers an area of a thousand miles. Normally, it would take at least several hours to walk to the northwest region. Elder Kui Tu generously blessed everyone with a lightness technique.
Lou Yuqing felt as light as a feather. With a light touch of her toes, she easily leaped three or four zhang away. With both feet moving at the same time, she instantly transformed into a wheel of fire and wind, her figure becoming incredibly illusory.
"call out!"
A gentle breeze blew by.
Many passersby had just seen a shadow flash by, but upon closer inspection, they saw nothing and felt terrified, thinking they had seen a ghost.
At such incredible speed, Lou Yuqing and the others successfully arrived at the entrance to Sunset Street.
Si Nidie pointed to the third house from the left and shouted, "That's it!"
As the group traveled along, the houses in the northwest area were mostly dilapidated, but the house that appeared before them was different; its decorations were noticeably more luxurious.
There was neither moldy paint nor dilapidated doors; instead, the atmosphere was full of life, giving people a vibrant feeling.
"They seem to be living quite well."
Si Nidie frowned, not satisfied with the result. She had originally thought that they were poor and destitute, which was why they lived in the Northwest District.
Others shared similar feelings with her.
Only Lou Yuqing was not surprised.
[Captain Wei's parents both possess one of the various skills in the Hundred Arts of Immortal Cultivation. Meng's father is an alchemist, and Meng's mother is a Gu exorcist. Their earning power is stronger than that of the average Foundation Establishment cultivator.]
[If it weren't for the large amount of spirit stones spent on stabilizing his brother Meng Siyu's congenital weakness, they could easily have moved into a prime location in the city.]
Si Nidie was indignant. They were clearly capable of taking care of the two children, so why did they abandon Captain Wei?
Of course, their original intention in giving birth to Captain Wei was malicious. If Captain Wei had been a healthy baby, they probably would have used him as a mobile blood bank for Meng Siyu.
Human essence and blood are extremely important; if it reaches that point, it is truly worse than death.
Whoever has their second child is doomed!
Si Nidie clenched her fists, her eyes filled with anger.
Kui Houming, however, reacted indifferently, as if he hadn't heard her thoughts.
In fact, he used all his energy to suppress his emotions, thinking he could remain calm and composed.
But when he realized he was about to meet them, his heart was filled with surging emotions.
Elder Kui Tu took the lead, preparing to knock on the door.
Just then, a petite woman with a delicate figure walked towards them, her skin so tender it looked like it could be squeezed to release water.
Her face showed panic, and she inexplicably looked pitiful as she hurried over, seemingly trying to avoid someone.
Lou Yuqing and the others stood on the side of the road, making way for the woman.
Unexpectedly, the woman suddenly stopped in front of the third house, and at the same time, several male voices came from behind her.
"Xiaoyu, give me a chance."
"Xiaoyu, I'm the one who loves you the most."
"Xiaoyu, don't leave me!"
Three men, each with a different appearance but equally handsome, caught up with the woman. One looked pleading, one determined, and one sorrowful.
Lou Yuqing: Oh wow, a battleground?
The melon-eating radar instantly activated, and both ears perked up.
Xiaoyu bit her lip, her voice weak: "Please don't make things difficult for me anymore. I know you've all been very kind to me, so I can't bear to hurt any of you."
Xiaoyu choked up, her voice like a delicate flower drenched in rain, evoking pity in the heart.
"Xiaoyu, it's my fault."
"Xiaoyu, don't be sad."
"Xiaoyu, you're still so kind."
The three men immediately showed expressions of heartache and wanted to reach out to comfort Xiaoyu, but Xiaoyu subtly and nimbly avoided them.
"It is Xiaoyu's good fortune to have met you all. I will never forget you in this lifetime, and I think you will never forget me either."
Xiaoyu spoke earnestly, her beautiful face revealing an indescribable, moving expression.
"Let us become each other's most beautiful memories. It's better to forget each other than to cling to each other in hardship."
The three men were deeply shocked.
Yes, Xiaoyu is right.
Since they are destined not to be with her, why bother to keep pestering her and become the kind of people she hates?
The man who was most moved spoke first: "Xiaoyu, you must always remember me, and I will always remember you. I hope you will have a better future."
After saying that, he left with a dejected look on his face.
Xiaoyu said emotionally, "Xiaoyu also wishes you all the best."
The second man hesitated for a long time before saying, "Xiaoyu, we have such wonderful memories together, are you really going to abandon me?"
"It's not that Xiaoyu wants to abandon you, but that Xiaoyu only has one heart. If her heart could be divided into three parts, Xiaoyu would definitely not hesitate."
Xiaoyu's watery eyes looked at him, and her gaze melted his heart.
"Xiaoyu, if you encounter any difficulties in the future, feel free to come to me." The second man made this promise, his departing figure appearing exceptionally lonely.
The last man refused to leave: "Xiaoyu, I'm willing to give you my all. Could you love me a little too, even if it's just as a favor?"
Xiaoyu lowered her head slightly and said dejectedly, "Xiaoyu can't do it. Xiaoyu wants to treat you all equally, but Xiaoyu also knows that you are more sincere to me than they are..."
Upon seeing this, the man immediately said, "Yes, Xiaoyu, my sincerity towards you is undeniable. By the way, the Treasure Pavilion has just launched a new robe; you can keep the spirit stones."
The man took out spirit stones from his storage bag and handed them over solicitously.
Xiaoyu's eyes flickered slightly, and she parted her red lips to say, "Xiaoyu has done nothing and has no reward, so I cannot accept your kindness."
The man directly handed the spirit stone to her, disapprovingly saying, "I'm giving it to you willingly. A young lady should dress up more, don't be so polite with me."
Seeing that she couldn't refuse, Xiaoyu smiled and said, "Then Xiaoyu won't stand on ceremony with you. I'll wear my new clothes to show you sometime, okay?"
The man was completely captivated by her smile and hurriedly said, "Okay, okay, then we'll meet again another day."
He knew Xiaoyu loved him, but she was too gentle to harden her heart and reject them.
As he left, the man was still savoring Xiaoyu's smiling face.
But the man never expected that the woman he thought was innocent would suddenly disappear with a smile, her expression turning utterly disdainful.
"Poor wretch."
They were all poorer than the other; what did they have to offer her in return?
Lou Yuqing and the others witnessed this scene and exclaimed: Good heavens!
Si Nidie exclaimed in admiration, "Wow, this woman is incredibly skilled. She managed to handle all three men without showing the slightest sign of displeasure."
She's never even held a man's hand in her entire life.
The differences between people are truly enormous.
Lou Yuqing nodded: "Yes."
From a moral standpoint, Xiaoyu definitely has a problem, but those three men were willing to be the fish that got caught.
If you try to persuade them, they might just yell at you.
Therefore, Lou Yuqing has always maintained an attitude of ignoring such matters that are consensual.
Gu Bugai and Elder Kui Tu remained very calm, believing that such matters were not worth their attention.
Kui Houming was stunned for a moment, then glanced at Xiaoyu a few more times, a strange feeling welling up inside him.
Xiaoyu noticed his gaze and looked up impatiently, about to scold him, but her pupils suddenly contracted when she saw his face.
The two locked eyes, and a strange atmosphere filled the air.
Xiaoyu hurriedly looked away and tried to push open the door to go inside, but suddenly realized something and stopped herself from opening the door.
Her series of actions aroused the doubts of everyone.
Si Nidie touched her nose, her gaze shifting back and forth between Captain Wei and Xiaoyu, wondering if Captain Wei was also a fish that Xiaoyu had caught.
Kui Houming: "..." Don't overthink it!
His memory was very clear; he had never interacted with Xiaoyu. To be precise, he had never had any deep interactions with any woman.
Some things are just handled strictly according to official procedures.
Kui Houming glanced at Si Nidie with a deep look: (Sect Rules Warning.jpg)
Si Nidie's expression changed: Cough, I'm a respectable person.
Lou Yuqing looked through the system panel and murmured to herself.
The system didn't mention that Xiaoyu lived with the Meng family. Could Xiaoyu be a tenant?
But the system has dug so thoroughly, showing even the most trivial details about the Meng family, it can't have missed this place.
Wait a minute, I think I understand now.
Everyone looked at Lou Yuqing with knowing glances, and she understood what was going on.
Before they could think, Lou Yuqing's thoughts came again.
[The characters "Yu" in Meng Siyu and "Yu" in Xiaoyu sound exactly the same, they are actually the same person!]
These words caused a huge stir.
Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief. Xiaoyu was Meng Siyu?!
This is appalling.
Even the seasoned Gu Bugai couldn't withstand this critical hit and showed a surprised expression.
Looking at Xiaoyu's figure, which was even more slender than that of an ordinary woman, Wei Houming's emotions fluctuated greatly. This person was actually his brother?
In an instant, he felt his entire worldview shatter.
"Meng Siyu?" Wei Houming took a deep breath and suddenly spoke.
Xiao Yu's figure visibly stiffened for a moment, but he ignored Wei Houming and walked towards the end of Sunset Street on his own, his shadow stretched long on the ground in the sunlight.
Lou Yuqing thought to herself: It really is Meng Siyu.
Kui Houming said in a deep voice, "I've already revealed your identity, are you still going to pretend you don't know me?"
He thought he could break off all ties with the Meng family quickly, but seeing Meng Siyu pretending to be a female cultivator to cheat people out of spirit stones, he felt uneasy.
Is it due to his personality or the hardships of life?
If it's the latter, he...
Elder Kui Tu kept a close eye on Kui Houming's emotions. Seeing this, he sighed. Family ties were ultimately Ming'er's weakness, and he couldn't be so carefree and at ease.
Well, with him as his master, there's no way he'll be fooled.
Let Ming'er make the decision for now.
Meng Siyu stood frozen in place, motionless for a long time. Then, at a certain moment, he suddenly turned around, his eyes reddening: "It's me. Are you satisfied now?"
Ignoring his sobs, Wei Houming asked coldly, "Why did you lie to them?"
"Why?"
Meng Siyu seemed to find it amusing and chuckled sarcastically: "What else could it be? You and I are brothers, and we both have congenital ailments, but you were lucky enough to be cured by the elders of the Wendao Sect, while I am still suffering from the torment of illness."
"My parents worked hard to earn spirit stones to treat my illness, but it was just a drop in the ocean. I was just trying to survive. What, are you going to question me now!"
Kui Houming paused for a moment, then said, "Since you know that I have become an apprentice of an elder of the Wendao Sect, why don't you come to find me?"
Meng Siyu's chest heaved violently, as if he couldn't speak.
"We can tell you what you want to know."
Just then, a sound rang out, and the Meng couple pushed open the door and came out.
