Chapter 25 The Highest Price Tonight
Reading Settings
The angel standing on the ring has the face of a virgin, gentle and shy. Nothing is more lovely or interesting than her face, and nothing makes a more heartwarming and innocent impression.
The angel's eyes always dart away from others, and there is a rather obvious cross mark on its forehead. It doesn't know where to put its wings and is completely at a loss.
The orc chieftain pinched her cheek and said, "Don't let her sixteen-year-old appearance fool you, she's still a child. Newborn angels change every day. Who would refuse to take such a treasure home to keep?"
Furious syllables emanated from Billie's lungs as the man on the stage declared her a collectible with utter indifference.
After the first wave of anger subsided, a second wave of anger soon followed. An old man who even carried a spittoon with him when spitting couldn't wait to raise his sign and ask for a price as high as 20,000.
That's not the most important thing. The most important thing is that someone said they wanted to cut off those beautiful wings and hang them on the wall of the hall so that they could be paired with the unicorn's horn.
With a worried look on his face, Billis pulled Mia aside and said, "We have to find a way to save her."
Are you sure she's your friend?
“I’m quite sure because her wings are covered in ice, and her height matches that of the cocoon in my house.”
"Alright then, but this time, you have to play along with me."
"How do you act it?"
Mia whispered a few words in Billis's ear, and just then, someone quoted a price of 60,000.
Sixty thousand was an outrageous figure for Fa'an. Everyone fell silent, astonished, and almost universally accepted that sixty thousand was the ceiling price for the auction, enough to buy all the goods in this auction.
Just as the orc chieftain was about to make the final decision, someone else raised the price to 100,000.
Everyone present was terrified, their eyes trembling as they stared at the buyer who dared to demand an astronomical sum.
She is Miss Montitt.
At this moment, the Blood Raven Club was extremely quiet, waiting for the orc chieftain to speak, because no one wanted to compete with this number, and many lords had pooled their assets together and still didn't have 100,000.
However, the orc chieftain looked suspicious. He personally stepped down from the arena and walked to Miss Montit's side.
“Miss Montitt, although we all know you are very wealthy, that doesn’t mean we believe you can come up with this large sum of money tonight.”
"When did I say that one person should pay for this?"
"What's the meaning?"
Mia pressed her slender waist against Billys, gave him a seductive look, and finally said to the chief, "I'll offer 60,000, and Captain Marcel will offer 40,000. We plan to buy her together."
"partnership?"
"Yes, you never said before that partnerships were not allowed."
"Blood Raven doesn't have such a rule, but why did you two agree to buy a collectible together?"
Mia deliberately gave the floor to Biris.
Billy smelled the fragrance on Mia's body, as if the scent could make him extremely excited.
He said to the chief, “Sir, since I am attending the auction with Miss Montite, it means that I have become the one she loves most. From now on, I will live with Miss Montite, eat at the same table, and sleep in the same bed. So why can’t we bid on the same collectible?”
"Of course! In addition, I believe that everyone here has witnessed the miracle that happened to Miss Montite. On behalf of Blood Raven, I wish you happiness and fulfillment."
Thunderous applause filled the air, and the auction resembled a wedding ceremony.
Several couples claimed to know Miss Montit and offered their congratulations. Among them were the most famous carnivorous bird rental merchant in the Hobrick region, the earliest entrepreneur in the Valdan region, and the magic item manufacturer in the Leviathan region.
In short, while everyone spoke well of Miss Montitt and Captain Marcel, they also congratulated them on finally getting together.
The real Miss Montit was a member of the energy delegation from the Misa region and one of the earliest navigational experts to explore the southern continent. Unlike Captain Marcel's several marriages, she was a veritable poison widow.
Miss Montitt's five husbands all mysteriously disappeared. Some say they all died while exploring new energy sources, while others say they are still alive but left the new energy group due to some conflict.
Despite everyone knowing that Miss Montitt had a peculiar penchant for keeping male lovers, many suitors still knelt at her feet or were defeated by her.
Captain Marcel must have had a special advantage to stand out among a bunch of male lovers, and everyone has seen that advantage: his greasy mouth.
Billy recounted his exploration experiences in the Leviathan Sea to several gentlemen, vividly imitating Captain Marcel, a left-handed deckhand.
To outsiders, Miss Montit and Captain Marcel, if not a match made in heaven, were at least a pair of kindred spirits.
The orc chieftain wanted to put the auctioned goods into an iron cage and deliver them to Miss Montit's house, but was refused.
In front of everyone, Mia asked the chief, "Will Blood Raven be here today? I want to hand over the money to him personally."
"You don't trust me to safeguard this money?"
“I don’t have the habit of taking servants with me when I go out, so I can’t carry that many gold coins. Therefore, I can only give him the key and password to the bank safe deposit box and let him confirm it himself.”
“You can leave it to me, miss.”
“Besides that, I also want to give him a big gift.” Mia took off her bracelet and poured out a small bundle of blueprints from the hollow bracelet. “This is a small token of my and Marcel’s appreciation.”
"What's this?"
"The blueprints of the Southern Continent, sir, have detailed markings of the non-reincarnated protection zone. I managed to obtain them from a member of the provisional government with great difficulty, so I want to hand them over to him personally."
"Blood Raven will surely be pleased with this generous gift."
The orc chieftain was about to take Mia and Biris to see Blood Raven when Mia winked at Biris, signaling him to take his angel friend away from the club.
Billis disagreed, saying softly, "What did we agree on beforehand? You help me, I help you, so I can't leave."
“Friend, I don’t have that much money on me. If our operation is exposed, none of us will get away.”
"Then I absolutely cannot leave."
"You're planning to leave her here?"
"With her on our mission, there's no difficulty Agent Billist can't overcome."
"Oh, really? Who was it that couldn't even get past security earlier?"
"But I don't want to save the time of repaying my debt of gratitude for another time."
Seeing that Billis was so determined, Mia agreed to let him bring his angel friends to the mission.
The three people were led to a mirror that looked just like the outside one; if they stuck their heads in it, they could see another passageway.
However, there is a difference: it is a one-way mirror, meaning that once you enter the mirror, you cannot return to your original place.
Blood Raven is someone who watches the arena from inside a mirror.
The orc chieftain walked very slowly, almost in tiny steps, as if afraid of waking the monster.
Snowflakes were falling outside the passageway, and a whooshing sound could be heard coming from the high mountains. Billis's contact lens had returned to normal, indicating that this was a real area of the other world.
Upon receiving the signal, Lisa immediately sent a location message to Billis, which indicated that they were at Furnace Cliff.
The one-way mirror connects to the far north! And it's in dwarven territory.
Biris and Mia were finding the cold climate unbearable. Every two steps, their angel friend would stop to look at them, and two warm rays of holy light would descend from the sky.
A spiral staircase leading upwards appeared directly in front of them. The angel friend suddenly spoke in a hoarse voice. She probably hadn't learned to speak yet, but every cautious movement proved that she was afraid of what was on the staircase.
The angel stood at the bottom of the steps and refused to go up. Billis thought she was just a simple child and it was natural for her to be afraid of dark things.
"Let's go, I'm here."
Beris took the angel's hand, and at that moment, the angel learned to utter his first word.
"kindness."
A simple interjection filled Billy with warmth, and he gripped the angel's hand even tighter.
The spiral staircase has five hundred steps. Only when you reach the end do you realize that this is the Snow Mountain Watchtower. Standing at the top of the tower, you can see the Hobrick Highlands, which are blocked by the Furnace Mountains.
The watchtowers connect to the snow-covered city walls. Dozens of identical watchtowers stand on the outer side of the walls, while the inner side is a vast expanse of abandoned ruins.
Lisa continued to transmit signals to Beris, whose contact lens showed that they were currently at the southernmost point of the Hyperion ruins.
“Blood Raven lives so far away, and you even have to connect the one-way mirror to Hobrick, which is 10,000 kilometers away. Why don’t you just open a club here?” Billis asked the chief.
The chief shrugged humbly and said, "You'll have to ask the boss himself. You'll see him soon."
He pointed to the castle-like ramparts, with the walls running through one of the gates.
The door creaked heavily, as if it hadn't been opened in a long time. The people living inside must not have gone out for a while either. Snowflakes disappeared on the corridor with steps on both sides. Hardy plants were planted around the perimeter of the corridor, which looked like it was cleaned regularly, so even if people didn't go out, dust and cobwebs wouldn't accumulate.
The chief circled the fortress before finally finding a new access control system leading to the exhibition hall. This system was clearly newly installed and had both fingerprint and voice security.
The chief pressed the access control button, but there was no response.
"Boss, open the door, I've brought my guest."
There was no echo.
"boss?"
A bear's roar suddenly came from the other end of the access control: "Who gave you permission to bring your guest here?"
