Chapter 5 Timely Departure

At the entrance of the Xiang family's residence, Gu Yunting, accompanied by two friends, subdued anyone the Xiang family might want to harm in the future.

He kicked one of them: "Who sent you?"

The person who was kicked spat out a mouthful of blood: "I..."

Upon hearing Gu Yunting's voice, Zheng Jiayu and the others inside quickly opened the door.

Upon opening the door, the sight of people lying on the floor immediately filled him with panic: "Who are they?"

"They're here to cause you trouble. They must be people Li Jian sent." Gu Yunting glanced at the men lying on the ground and kicked one of them.

The man screamed in agony. Gu Yunting, with his foot on the man, coldly demanded, "Tell me, who sent you?"

The man stared at Zheng Jiayu with a fierce look in his eyes: "We're here for what the Zheng family left behind."

Captain Xiang was furious. He hadn't expected that even though Zheng Jiayu had come to his house, these people still wouldn't let them go.

Gu Yunting didn't believe that these people were only there for the Zheng family's possessions.

Gu Yunting punched the man on the head: "Still trying to deny it?"

"Yunting, we'll handle these people and interrogate them. You stay here tonight to protect them and prevent anyone else from coming," said Gu Yunting's friend.

They hadn't originally planned to come today, but Gu Yunting was worried about what happened with Li Jian during the day, so they came anyway, and they didn't expect it to be the right decision.

As soon as I went upstairs, I saw these people attacking the Xiang family.

"Take them away and extract information from them at any cost."

"good."

The person was quickly taken away. Gu Yunting was taken back by Captain Xiang and arranged to stay in his son's room.

Xiang reached out and patted Gu Yunting on the shoulder: "It's good that you guys came today."

"Uncle Xiang, you're too kind. This is what we should do."

I was thinking that Grandpa was making a mountain out of a molehill by asking him to come and pick someone up.

But now it seems very necessary.

If they hadn't come, it's uncertain whether Zheng Jiayu would have made it to the north alive.

Let alone going north, they wouldn't even be able to leave here alive.

Turning his gaze to Zheng Jiayu, Gu Yunting reassured her, "Don't worry, with us here, they won't dare to do anything."

Even if people come, they can still kill them.

"Thank you." Zheng Jiayu looked at Gu Yunting and expressed her sincere gratitude for their help.

"No need to be so polite with us, go and rest. I'll keep watch tonight."

Zheng Jiayu looked at Gu Yunting, hesitated, and finally chose to go back to her room to rest.

Back in her room, Zheng Jiayu sat on the bed, her face looking rather grim, her mind filled with everything she had witnessed on the three members of the Li family.

Just as Gu Yunting said, these people today are not simply after what their parents left behind.

I came for her.

I just don't know why these people didn't mention the Li family.

Her hands clenched into fists unconsciously, and Zheng Jiayu's eyes were filled with ruthlessness.

If Gu Yunting and the others hadn't come, would her fate have been the same as what she witnessed with the Li family?

Thinking of her own agonizing state in the video, Zheng Jiayu dared not even consider what would happen next.

"I will never let the Li family get away with this."

Zheng Jiayu fell asleep in bed after thinking about it for a while.

The next morning, as soon as I stepped out of my room, Gu Yunting came over and said, "Our train is at eight o'clock. Get ready and we'll head over there."

It's already past seven o'clock; if we don't leave now, it will be too late.

Zheng Jiayu checked the time and quickly started packing her things.

After packing their things, Zheng Jiayu and the others took the food that Captain Xiang had prepared and went to the station together.

"Jiayu, you must be careful. Even if you go to Gu Yunting's place, you can't trust anyone easily, you know?" Before Zheng Jiayu and the others left, Captain Xiang looked at Zheng Jiayu and said seriously.

Zheng Jiayu nodded earnestly: "Uncle Xiang, don't worry, I've remembered everything."

Seeing Zheng Jiayu's serious expression, Captain Xiang was finally relieved.

Zheng Jiayu said a few words to Captain Xiang and then left with Gu Yunting and the others.

Just as Gu Yunting and his group left for the station to board the train, Li Zonglin arrived at Captain Xiang's house with his men.

Seeing Li Zonglin and his family come to their door, Captain Xiang frowned slightly and looked at Li Zonglin with displeasure: "Li Zonglin? What are you doing here?"

"Captain Xiang, my purpose in coming here today is very simple. I'm just here to find Zheng Jiayu."

I checked the time with the captain; it was already eight o'clock, and the train had already left.

So he said to Li Zonglin, "You've come at a really bad time. Jiayu's fiancé came yesterday and took her away."

Li Zonglin's expression immediately changed: "What did you say? Zheng Jiayu really has a fiancé?"

Captain Xiang looked at Li Zonglin with surprise and asked curiously, "How could this be fake?"

"Look at you, I told you Jiayu has a fiancé, why did you bring so many people here? Aren't you just making things difficult for yourself?" Captain Xiang looked at the people Li Zonglin brought, all of whom were the so-called elders.

It's a pity they arrived too late; Zheng Jiayu had already left on the train.

"I don't believe it. How could they just leave like that? Are you saying this on purpose?" As he spoke, Li Zonglin pushed the person away and scolded him angrily.

Seeing Li Zonglin barge in to look for someone, Captain Xiang wasn't in a hurry and let him look around.

They found nothing.

Seeing the way these people looked, the captain crossed his arms and asked with a half-smile, "Well, did you find it?"

The person who came with Li Zonglin, realizing he seemed to have been tricked, said unhappily, "Li Zonglin, didn't you say that your Li Jian and Jiayu were engaged? What's going on now?"

Li Zonglin glared venomously at Captain Xiang, a look that made Captain Xiang smile smugly: "You seem quite angry, huh?"

"But that makes sense. After all, your family was always scheming against Jiayu. Now that Jiayu has left with her fiancé, it's understandable that you're angry." Captain Xiang sighed softly, seemingly speaking up for Li Zonglin.

In reality, his words were like knives piercing Li Zonglin's heart.

The man who came with Li Zonglin gave him a disdainful look: "You came here without even figuring out what was going on. Isn't this just deliberately making things difficult for people?"

Li Zonglin looked at Captain Xiang in front of him with a hoarse voice and asked resentfully, "You did this on purpose from the very beginning, didn't you?"

Upon hearing this, Captain Xiang immediately became displeased: "Li Zonglin, I don't like what you're saying. I told you that Jiayu has a marriage arranged for her by her grandfather. They gave her tokens and a marriage certificate, and it's a proper marriage. But your family has nothing."

"Jiayu's parents have passed away. We can't just marry Jiayu off to your family based on your side of the story, can we?"
